I'm not going to be any help but I can definitely commiserate.  We adopted a kitten on Sept. 20 and about a week later my kids got it.  And it wasn't just one or two "sores."  My two youngest kids had around 30!  We have three cats and a dog.  Dog isn't showing any signs of it but the oldest cat is.  I have two cats in the basement and the other cat I'm watching like a hawk and cleaning any areas she goes. She is not the nicest cat and I would worry about her being isolated with the other two.  Everyone but my husband and the dog are on some combo of meds.  When my daughter, who had it the worst and is responding slower to medications, looks clear (another week, maybe?) I want to let the cats out.  BUT, I'm not sure how to do it.  I'm not sure it they need to have the lime sulfur dips first since I fear that they will just be carrying spores back into our main house.  I'm so confused and, like you, going crazy.  It's hard to fight what you can't see.

So sorry you are dealing with this with your kittens.  It's a full time job.

I'm sorry, crys5.  I'm not sure there is much else you can do besides what you're doing.  Are you able to isolate the cats with ringworm?

I understand how you're feeling.  I'm finding myself angry and short with everyone in my house because nobody takes it as seriously as I do.  Kids are just being kids but they make it difficult to stay on top of it.  The laundry is out of control.  I'll hate to see our water bill this month.

Welcome to the site :wavey:

Sorry you are going though this. I've never been though this myself, but here's a link to an article below that might help you. ;)

How're you doing today, crys5?

I just going back from taking the kitten to the vet. He finished his two week round of oral meds today.  They cultured him and the results will be back in 10 days.  I'm taking one of the other cats in today for a culture.  Unfortunately our third cat is way to difficult to take to the vet for the culture.  I am hoping that the cultures come back negative at that point and we can get them out of our basement.

I love our vet.  He made me see a light at the end of this.  Remember, it is self limiting; the spores can't live with out a host forever.  He  said that usually the kids will develop an immunity so I have my fingers crossed that we can enjoy this kitten before he's an adult!

I'm sorry you're going through this. The best thing my vet ever said to me is that EVERYBODY eventually comes out on the other side of a ringworm infection.  And she was right.  It was hell when I was going through it.  Because of my lack of time to clean, and because I simply could not risk my dog's getting it, I ended up throwing out a ton of stuff.  Couches, rugs, curtains, pillows, bedding, etc.  I scrubbed everything with a hard surface with Clorox cleanup and let it sit for 10 min and then wiped it down.  There was a study by Dr. Moriello that a few household cleaners work as well as the bleach solution.  Everything I could, I cleaned and stored in the basement.  I quarantined the cat who had it.  I feel horrible about him, like I tortured him for the 11 weeks he was isolated, but he ultimately got 3 clear cultures, I returned him to the rescue and he now has a wonderful home.  Neither I, my dog or other cat (who is longhaired) ever got it.  It is a nightmare.  I felt like the minute I opened the quarantine room again that everyone would get it  so I scrubbed and repainted the entire room and it hasn't happened.  We're all still clear and the cat has been gone since January and the room has been open a few months now.

I wish I could tell you it's easy, but it's not. But, I trust my vet when she says everyone eventually gets through it.  Hang in there, do the best you can and I'll hope for the best for you.
