Will I ever sleep a full night again?!

Okay so I have two cats one male one female both about a year and a half and neutered. They are barn rescues and I love them to bits but at night they are driving my boyfriend and I insane!!!! The female dark cat hates closed doors and will scratch all night if we close the bedroom door to get some sleep. For this reason we sleep with the door ajar and she's great. BUT with the door open the MALE cat goes crazy around 4am in the bedroom knocking everything over and scratching and batting at things. No matter what we do we aren't sleeping and we've been suffering for about 4 months no matter what we try. I found some luck with a scratch deterrent spray for the door but I would literally have to get up twice in the night to spray the door for it to be effective!!! Ahhhh I love my kitties but I don't know if I can deal with this much longer!!! Would it be humane to kennel them all night?? Any other ideas? So tired [emoji]128547[/emoji]

I would definitely invest in some sort of crate or isolated area for sleeping. Give them access to water, litter, a few quiet toys, and beds. You can take an old sweater that has your smell and put it on their bed. They will whine for a night or two but they will eventually figure it out.
