I loved my boy, but it was his time.

I had my beloved cat Ra put to sleep a month ago.  I really felt that my heart would break.  I cried non stop for a week, and I knew my friends were worried about me.  But we grieve as intensely and as long as we need to when saying goodbye to a furry companion.  Although the tears have stopped, he was family to me, and I miss him terribly.  <3

I found a prayer to Bast  that I thought was quite beautiful.  I love The Rainbow Bridge, but this is lovely, too.

Prayers for a Pet Cat

1. Ra, you have crossed over now,
into the spirit realm.
May you walk with Bast,
and I will see you again some day.

2. Mother Earth, we return to you
the body of one of your children.
H
is spirit will return to his ancestors,
and
he will continue to live in our memories.
We are thankful that we were able
to share our lives with
him,
and give h
im to your loving arms.

3. Bast, Sekhmet, we give you back your child.
Noble, regal, honorable cat.
Watch over h
im, and guide him on his way
to the spirit world.
May he be blessed in your names,
and hunt ever after beside you.

This is Ra.  July 2000 to September 2014.

Ra is a beautiful cat. Im so sorry for your loss. He lived a ahort life, but a happy and lovef one im sure. I know you posted on my pst about my jinjo and gizmo, so I cant tell you that the pain goes away, as its been 5 months since my Jinjo passed and I still hurt. I find her hairs everywhere still. Im sure she purposely planned it ao id never forget her! And I wont. My Aunt, a crazy animal lover and supporter told me that there would be a day when id finally be able to look at her pictures and smile at the memories and not cry. I think im almost there. But im so much better than I was. Im just trying to say that it dies get better.

Thanks for your kind words, JinjoKitty.  I have such empathy for you and your losses, too.  *hugs*

I had Ra 14 years, so, he lived a long life and a healthy and happy one until he got sick.  I miss him so much.  I had him cremated, and have his ashes with me. And he was not only beautiful, but busting with personality and intelligence.  He was one of a kind.

I love those prayers to Bast, they are very fitting for our regal loved ones. My heart aches for your loss, it takes a long time to heal a broken heart. I know we will never forget our babies, we will always have a special place in our hearts that will protect and love them. I want you to know we do understand on this site what a painful experience this grief process is, and sometimes just talking to others who understand helps a lot. I'll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers, and I'll recite your prayers at my Chrissy's grave, thank you for sharing them with us. Take care........RIP beautiful Ra!

aww RA is indeed beautiful! I'm so sorry for your loss and your sadness. Was RA solid black? Or did he have any white on him too?

Ra had a few white hairs on his chest, but they were barely noticeable. He was huge, too.  Almost 24 pounds, long and lean.  He was so big he used to scare my friends when he strutted forward to greet them.  hehe  He was very social, and would win them over quickly.

aww.. hope you share more pics of him . I asked because it's been 6 weeks since putting our tuxedo Minnie down. Today in PetSmart there was a girl kitty that looks soooo much like your RA, and I've seen her there for 3 weeks now... and she always ignored me (lil attitude lol) but today she got up out of a nap and came RIGHT TO THE GLASS and pawed at my finger...and rubbed her head on the glass..melted my heart. I didn't realize it before...but today saw the lil bitty white on her chest!

I adopted a little black kitten from a local shelter three weeks ago.  It lifted my heart so much.  I will always miss Ra, and little Minchin doesn't replace him, but he does fill a hole in my soul.

Here's another of Ra in his battered box.  He had his favourite toy, which was a black cat, of course.

Here's another one from Christmas.  Ra desperately wanted those toys, but his head wouldn't fit in the stocking.  haha  He did figure it out, of course.  He was a smart kitty.

So sorry that you've lost your Minnie.  *hug*  I'll have to go look at your photo albums.  I'm glad you have another little one at home.

Minchin is slowly learning the ropes with my resident Calico, Pi.  It's still very early in their relationship, and Pi's not too impressed, but he loves her.  haha

I understand how much pain you are in, right now.

Surely, a kind God wold never allow us to love our kitties so much that He will not allow us to be with them, again.

Surely, we WILL have them with us when we go.....

Almost 24 pounds! WOW! What a remarkable kitty!

So sorry to hear that you lost him. He will always live in your heart. What a sweetie he looked to be.
