Hello! Thank you for this great resource. I do plan on taking my cat to the vet if this doesn't heal up reasonably soon.

My strictly indoor cat developed what looked to be a cut above his right eye last week. He runs around a lot and bumps his head a lot. I imagined he just bumped it extra hard this time. It does not look infected, though he is losing hair around the area, and he does not appear to be in pain when I touch it. I cleaned the blood off with diluted hydrogen peroxide for a few days. He has been acting normal, eating and sleeping normal.

Today it looks to be swelling quite a bit, causing his eye to droop slightly. Again, he does not appear to be in pain when I touch the area and it does not look to be infected. Though it also has not appeared to heal at all and this swelling has me worried.

Time for a visit to the vet?

Any help? Swelling seems to have gone down, but the area still bleeds slightly.

That looks like he has an abscess.  If that is the case he is going to need antibiotics.  I would take him to the vet.

Thanks for the reply sunset97!

I took him to the vet today and they are, quote, "95 percent sure it is an allergic reaction, possibly due to the corn cob litter that has been being used recently". They pumped him with a pair of shots and a two week run of Clavomax.

Too bad. This was the best cat litter I have used.
