I asked the same question in my last post to the thread, My 12 year old chubby cat has suddenly lost her appetite, etc.

In the definition of what a holistic vet is,

Holistic medicine is an umbrella term that includes such therapies as:  clinical nutrition, acupuncture, chiropractic, homeopathy, homotoxicology, functional medicine, herbal or botanical medicine, prolo therapy,  vibrational or energy medicine, detoxification and more.  Holistic medicine views the body as a whole and not as a bunch of isolated organs or organ systems.   The holistic point of view is that no one system functions on its own .   A disease which may on the surface appear to affect only one  organ system actually affects all systems.     Holistic medicine does not attempt to name  or treat individual diseases but does attempt to identify and correct  abnormal body  functions which may underlie many diseases.     Holistic medicine believes that the major underlying causes of  dysfunction include:  malnutrition,  a leaky gut, an unbalanced immune system, an out of control inflammatory response,  poor detoxification,  a deficiency of antioxidants,  a loss of cellular communication, excessive physical and psychological stress,   spinal misalignment,  neurotransmitter  imbalance and poor hormonal control.

Leaky gut and an out of control inflammatory response describes Krissy to a T.

While I sit back with anxiety that I am not doing enough or know enough, she is living life everyday feeling like crap, and it's making me crazy.

There has GOT to be more I can be doing for her.

I've been searching for a good hour for a holistic vet in my area and getting nowhere, including the AHVMA site, which took me in circles basically.

There must be an easier way.....

Okay, I think I just found what I've been looking for!

You could also try conducting a search on www.tcvm.com. Scroll down and click on the box that says, "Find a TCVM Practitioner". While its focus is on Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, many of these vets also employ a holistic approach.

Just remember, as with any vet, specialty vets are not all created equal and nowadays it seems more and more vets are calling themselves holistic because of the attraction and the ability to charge higher fees. Do your research on this person - how many years she's been studying whatever specialty it is, where she went to school, ask around and see if anyone you know has used her, etc.

I had a long distance consult with a holistic vet once and the main treatment plan offered to Sebastian was a few Standard Process supplements. I was disappointed.

Okay thank you, I will do that. It looks like they are usually regular vets then they get certified in holistic med/approach.

This one I found is young, she did go to UC Davis school for her veterinarian traing, which I like, I know several of the teachers there.

Also had 2 years someplace I don't recognize for her certification.    (??)

You can use the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association directory: http://www.ahvma.org/Widgets/FindVet.html
Well I tried that, several times in fact. For some darn reason it was taking me in circles basically. Thanks.
