As I have mentioned on other threads, my cat was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease about a month ago and was put on prednisone at that time. She has not had any incidents of vomiting or hairballs since she has been on the prednisone, and the vet told me at her checkup yesterday that she had gained six ounces. She has been consistently losing weight over about the past year, so this was good news.

Now for the bad news: On the way home from the vet, she had diarrhea all over the carrier. Diarrhea has never been her issue (at least since she was a kitten). Her problem has been vomiting food, hairballs, and weight loss, so this was unexpected and threw me for a loop. The vet said that I will have to bring her back in and put her on some anti-diarrheal medicine if it continues. She had not had a bowel movement when I left for work this morning, so I am not sure if she is better. I am afraid of what I will find when I get home.

Wish me luck!

Did your vet suggest Proviable?  It's like Activa for humans but this is for cats.  Another thing I have used is baby rice cereal.  I added it to the wet cat food and because it absorbs moisture it will haelp create a more solid stool.  You can google it and find out what amount you should use.

the diarrhea wasn't just from riding in the car? One time Mikki foamed at the mouth, then threw up, and had diarrhea all from nerves from riding!

It could have well been the car ride and stress of going to the vet.  One of my cats does this on every vet visit only she goes in the carrier just as I am walking into the waiting room.  Of course it smells really bad and there is a mess in the carrier.  The people at this clinic are so nice and understanding, they even take the carrier in the back and clean it up for me.

I am hoping that it was just a "stress poop." She had normal stools today. However, she did vomit her food again. I thought she was finally done with that!
