Whenever I turn up at the supermarket checkout with my trolley load of cat food I get asked. "Oh, do you have a cat?"

I'm always tempted to say "No.....?"

That'd be great. "No, I'm just hooked on the stuff!"

I'm a huge eater and my boyfriend jokes whenever I come home with cans of cat food, "so what did you get for the cats?"

Haha, I once sat in a vet's office waiting and saw five people in a row come in and grab giant bags of dry and that was more than I anticipated vet's offices getting in retail sales - I can imagine the looks on people's faces when one person comes in for that much!

I have a friend who went to Petsmart when their Yesterday's News litter went on a big sale earlier this year and she had assistants helping her load 10 bags into the car. They asked if she ran a rescue and she said "no, I just have one cat".
 Lol
When I was buying cases of food, I swear the pet store employees' eyes turned into giant dollar signs the second I walked into the store
I gave them very good business for a few years before my diabetic passed away. I still go there occasionally to buy canned food or toys. I go to another pet store now since they're the only store around here that sells Hare Today raw products.

I always feel the need to apologize if I'm buying FF at the grocery store when there's a big sale. I buy so many, and in some stores, due to company policy, the cashier has to ring them in one-by-one. Apparently, I hold the record for the longest receipt one cashier has ever seen.

I am known in our family for my proclivity to buy on Amazon instead of going shopping locally for clothes, books or just about anything else.   I often have packages showing up at the door.

My stepdaughter was here one day when the UPS guy came by with a large heavy box--she carried it in and said 'Woohoo, 38 pounds worth of goodies!'  She couldn't wait to help me open it and sort through my purchases.  Boy, was she disappointed to find out it was 38 pounds of cat food.
(Some online pet food store had a sale going on and offered free shipping, so I stocked up....)

Sounds like we're all good for business!

I do the same with bird food - not so much sales, but the fact that high quality bird food isn't readily available in stores, and vets charge a lot, so I always buy online from specialty stores and will often end up receiving a box of 20-30lbs of bird food at a time. I still think they're exciting to open and sort! Thankfully, these little ones aren't garburators like the cats are so it lasts!

Are you my friend Ang? Lol. She calls it "Angiezon". Lol. I swear... she buys stuff from there daily! No joke. And she owns a business on top of it. Cracks me up.

Just one case at a time from the local natural pet food store. In fact.......I need to call them now, & make sure they have another case for me, it's almost time for one.

I think the most canned cat food I ever bought was 200 cans of Friskies Buffet at Petsmart when it was on sale at an incredible price. The most dry food was two 16-pound bags of dry, one for Muffin (Friskies Indoor Delights is her favorite) and one for Amber and Ms. Pepe (Purina Indoor Dry). The Hills TD is for Mollipop and BooBoo. They don't all like the same food, so I try to cater to them a bit.

I have good storage for canned cat food, but have no idea how to best store large amounts of dry cat food, so I'm usually careful of the amounts of dry that I buy.

One day I was at the store for strictly cat supplies. I had several bags of litter, 100 cans of cat food, a couple bags of dry, some hairball treats, a couple 3-packs of Sip milk, and some kitty balls and little meeces. The guy behind me was standing there watching everything. Finally, he looked at his wife and said, "When I die, I want to come back as one of her cats!" That was a long time ago, back when we had Hydrox, Whisper, Bootser, Banshee, and the five RugKittens. Those kittens went through a lot of food.

I spend about $5,500 yearly just in food and litter. I toss and replace toys (balls, mice, kickaroos, etc...) twice yearly, and they get treats (freeze-dried raw) a couple of times a month too, so that likely pushes me to $6000 or so.

I'm afraid to keep track, but it's easily in the thousands. I rarely get out of a pet store under $50, and I have to go to 3 stores to get my supplies. Trying to find foods that Cocheezie might eat is a great expense. Having a diabetic cat and a subq cat, I go through a lot of litter. I get the blankets, throws, and pillows for cats which are placed all around the house from 2nd hand stores because of the stomach acid & food vomiting. If it's really bad, I just toss it.
