I was able to trap my 2nd "under the deck" cat this morning.  I do believe he is more stray than feral.  He had only been coming at night and just a few times in the mornings.  I tried 2 weeks ago to trap him, but my "helpers" aka Shadow and Stellar decided the trap had yummy food inside and they wanted in too!!  So this morning "under the deck" kitty aka Cisco was waiting at the edge of the deck.  DH and I quickly got the trap ready.  I corralled my two "helpers" and fed them off to the side.  I had to make one addition to the trap by adding his regular bowl of food and in he went.  He is now in the garage waiting transport.  I have to watch my nieces for an hour this morning so I will take him to the low cost vet around 10.

This is the 7th cat I have trapped in my yard.  How sad that makes me.  I trapped the 1st "under the deck" kitty aka Hampton exactly 2 months ago today.  He was truly feral and the he must have been so traumatized that he never returned.  That was the second cat I had trapped that never returned.  For me that is the worst part.  Some I have attachments to and others not so much, but when they don't return there is the worry and concern over their safety and health.  I so wish there was an easier way.

Good job with the trapping ShadowsRescue.

Maybe if this one is a stray he won't be so traumatised and will stick around once you release him again. You seem to get a lot of male cats, don't you? I think I've trapped as many female cats as male cats in the past few years.

How does Cisco get along with your other outdoor cats? Are they willing to accept a newcomer in their patch?

I have had all males.  Not one female!!  Very very strange.  It's also strange how 4 of the 7 cats all look very similar.  All very much like my beloved Patches.

Shadow is not happy about this newcomer.  He misses Hampton.  He had bonded a bit with Hampton.  They would sniff each other and sit a bit together at the edge of the deck.  Hampton would come up onto the deck for brief visits during the night.  I had hoped he would go into their shelter this winter.  But he never returned after the neuter.  This new cat (Cisco) had been her the month of June on and off then disappeared.  He reappeared 3 days after Hampton's neuter and has never left.  I told him he could stay as long as we did the neuter.  In early Sept. he would eat on the first step of the deck, but Shadow decided that was not to happen and would chase him under each day.  So for now he eats under.  I tried putting a small shelter under the deck for him, but so far he won't use it.  I don't have much space under there as it is quite low.   I worry about him for winter.  I doubt Shadow will allow him to come into the winter setup and possibly may not allow him onto the deck.    I just don't know where to put another one for Cisco.

I need to contact my Animal Communicator and see what I can do for him.

It's funny that all of the strays and ferals I've taken in have been male, too, except for one--Mia. Are there really more male cats in the world than females?

Great job trapping Cisco, SR. If he is stray, then he'll stick around for sure. Regarding the question of what to do with another cat--I can't answer that one for myself! Sometimes I wish I lived on a farm.

There may not be more males but I firmly believe females are less trusting and know how to avoid being seen/trapped.

Good job, Shadow!

He came back for food last night!!!  I was about to give up on him as he is always ready for dinner around 7pm.  He came at 9:15 last night.  He appeared on the deck and just sat staring into the house.  He didn't eat alot, but at least he ate.  I was worried that I was jinxed with 2 of my other TNR boys never returning.

Now to determine winter shelters!
