Hellooooooo! ~

What do you prefer: Butter or Margarine?

I tend to enjoy both. I favour the taste of butter, but like the ease of use of Margarine.

I like and use both, but switched to Smart Balance for my margarine, supposedly it helps with cholesterol levels. I wish I knew which is REALLY better for you!

I haven't had butter in my house in many years.  I use I can't believe it's not butter light.   It really tastes good or I wouldn't be eating it for so many years.  I mostly use land o' lakes stick margarine for cooking unless oil is needed.

I know you bakers out there need to use butter most times.

Butter only.  I haven't used margarine since I left home, which was....well, a few years ago....

Butter only for me. The rest of the family has dairy allergies so I've learned to cook non-dairy practically everything. We buy Becel Vegan for them since that's the only margarine with no milk ingredients in it.  They use it for toast and baked potatoes, but I won't cook with it yuck. I use different kinds of oils instead.

oh Canada~
Salted butter, yum! I don't object to margarine and it's what we use the vast majority of the time, but nothing beats the creamy taste of real butter.

I prefer to use butter.  I used to use margarine and then I found out that there were things in margarine that made it as bad if not worse for people than butter.  I do keep a small tub of land of lakes margarine in the refrigerator for when I need a spread quickly because butter has to have time to soften.

Butter, in particular Irish butter because the cows are pastured and it's easy to spread. I don't like the thought of all the artificial ingredients in margarine.

Butter,

Butter!

Butter!!

Oh yes, butter.  Mostly sweet although salted has its place too.  Love good types like Irish, with more fat in it.

However, I eat very little of it now that I'm watching my waistline.  I use olive oil mostly, sometimes, small amounts of Smart Balance, or of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter (NOTE TO MANUFACTURER: YES I CAN BELIEVE IT).

BTW I also use duck fat.  It's far healthier than the butter and imparts and really great flavor.  Plus, it somehow helps foods cook better.  Every time I make an egg with it they are perfect.
