The theme for this month is: feral cats.

October 16th is National Feral Cat Day in the US. In honor of feral cats and those who care for them, this month's contest will be dedicated to photos of feral cats! It's not always to tell strays apart from ferals, especially if you're inexperienced in dealing with these special cats, so while the contest focuses on feral cats, if you took a good shot of an outside cat, it can be submitted. Pictures of feral cats and kittens who were trapped and brought inside for socialization, and even pictures of former-feral cats are welcome as well!

If you want to learn more about feral cats and how to help them, our Ferals & Strays forum is a great place to start. Or you can find all of our articles on the topic right here.

Now is the time for those of you who care for ferals to show the world just how beautiful they are! Since these cats often remain nameless, please do tell us about them as you submit the picture (just please try to keep it down to a couple of sentences, so the thread keeps its photographic focus).

Submissions will be accepted through Sunday, October 19th

The Rules:
  1. Choose the best picture you have for our monthly theme and post it to this thread.

  2. Image needs to be clear and not too small. 480 pixels high by 640 pixels wide minimum should be a good enough size.
  3. One submission per member please
Our cats are ALL amazingly beautiful! This friendly photo contest is about the way in which the cat is captured in the picture. We're not looking for professional photography, but do try to keep things like image quality, lighting and composition in mind.

Good luck everyone!

I found TCS late one night after bringing in a feral and realizing we had no idea how to handle her. All the info and help at that time gave us a wonderful cat who is still very shy but such a love!

Our dear Prudence, Pru, or as the grandkids call her: Prunes. :lol3:

H.P our resident feral. She was here and full grown when Glen and his family moved into this house. They lived here almost two years before I visited the first time four years ago. We estimate she is at least 8 years old but really can't be sure. Regardless, she is ours and we love her.

My DLH cat Mithra (left) and his feral momma, Mimo (aka: Mithy Momma) a dilute tortie.  Mithra is long-haired and has fur like cotton candy.

Mimo is the boss of our block and even took on the family min poodle for trying to bite one of her kittens.  I love her to bits and wish someone would have saved her from this life but she is now fixed and healthy.

Mithra (left) was said to be between 8-10 weeks when we caught him mid 2013, suffered from Giardia (3+) and Coccidia and weighed about half a pound all skin, belly and bones.  He is now a lovebug and even plays fetch with pom pom balls.  Current weight is a healthy 12lbs.

This is the lovely Cardamom, trapped in my backyard just over a year ago while heavily pregnant. She gave birth in my spare room the very next day! The rescue organization that I've done previous TNR with had been trying to catch her for 3 years (after she escaped from a trap on their initial attempt). Took me 7 months, the use of a remote control trap trigger, and a huge dog-sized trap, but I did it, and she's mine! Can't touch her yet, but she loves the indoor life and plays like crazy.
