I talk about my cats and their antics a little too much, I think. I can see the subtle looks of annoyances on people's faces sometimes. That is when I shut up so I do not sound like a crazy cat lady! It seems that most people do not like cats as much as I do.

Thats why we have TCS. So we can talk to cat people from all over the world as often as we want yeah!! When my daughter told her Grandma that we have 3 cats now Grandma's response was "yuck."

If you find people equally passionate about cats, they never will! One of my current professors is obsessed with cats, but I'm having a tough time walking the line between diligent student and crazy cat lady without making it seem inappropriate or too casual since he still is, after all, my teacher for the term. I take advantage of the longtime friendship I've had with @Mackimus to talk about cat things, so when I find a new cat thing or take on a new cat plan, he's usually the first to hear. Sometimes I think even my boyfriend is tired of hearing my cat stories - and he's the cat guy who started it all by moving in with me with his cat!

I have some pet obsessed friends, even if not specific to cats, so I have lots of bird and cat stories to tell and they will return the favour with their other petly stories (bunnies, dogs).

If I have to hear about their kids, they have to hear about mine!

Lol

The people I work with are for the most part animal lovers. It's not uncommon for someone to set up for a PowerPoint presentation and see a picture of their pet(s) on the desktop of the computer
Those who have desks often have pictures of pets and kids/family posted on the divider walls. Occasionally I'll get an email from someone with a link to a YouTube video of a cat doing something ridiculously cute or an article about something cat-related. I've traded cat stories with co-workersand provided suggestions and tips for someone who got her very first cat.

YES! I can't help it, he's my favorite thing...like ever! However, most people love not only me- but my kitty too!- and so they don't mind me talking about him most of the time. They'll even ask me about him before I can bring him up...something like 'Heather, I know you've got a cat story..so tell me- how is Smokey this week?'. He is a pretty unique cat that is for sure!

If they don't like to hear about my cats "too bad". I love them dearly and sometimes think I get more affection from them then people do from their kids. I agree that this is why we all share our stories on TCS. All of you understand the unconditional love and affection we get from our precious babies.

I just talk to Dh and he talks just as much about the cats. Today he took pictures of one of the cats being crazy, climbing our shelf and up onto a printer on the shelf.
And then my 6 year old daughter has to put IN her .02 about "the kids" all the time.

Lol sometimes I feel left out ;)

Yep, no one else in my family is in to cats (or animals come to that) and for the most part I haven't had cat people around much at work either so I am very familiar with the rolling / glazed eyes and that 'yuck' response.   I'm sure everyone around me has given out a hugh sigh of relief since I found TCS and inflicted my stories on other members here - who hopefully can't get enough of cats either.  Now they sigh when I talk about TCS.

At first my husband was very anti-cat/s. Now he is "hurry! Come quick.... You have to see this"

I tell the cats "And to think... Daddy didn't want any of you... My booboo babies....". :D
