When Dixie stopped eating, licking my hand, and basically moving around (except to find hiding places or urinate outside the litter box), I knew her condition had worsened. I took her to the vet for an X-Ray, and it was discovered that there was fluid in her lungs and her abodmen. She was also very lethargic, dehydrated, and depressed. I knew I couldn't put her through any medical misery, so I had the doctor go ahead and perform the euthanasia.

Five months with my Dixie Girl just wasn't enough....

Although it is hard for you to accept the loss, you did the right thing in letting her go. I am so sorry you didn't have years together, and please know that each day, it will get easier.

I am so sorry about Dixie, she is now playing pain-free at the rainbow bridge and remembering wonderful times with you. Five months may not seem long, but to her it was special, for you gave her love.

oh I am so so so sorry. You really did the right thing. I know how terribly short 5 months can feel and how it can consume every corner of your heart. Our was only 7 months. I do understand. You are brave, oh so brave, too. You provided peace.

There is something so amazing about kitties. I can say that Dixie loved you with amazing passion and you will completely agree with me. I also know that Dixie was very special and individual, like all the other amazing cats are. I'm so sorry that you and Dixie had to part.
