How are you spending the day? Are you hosting? What are you eating? Any recipes you want to share? Enquiring minds that are hosting a Thanksgiving celebration in the US in a little over a month want to know. :lol3:

Happy Thanksgiving! I celebrated Thanksgiving with my boyfriend's family last weekend - turkey, salad, vegetarian Moroccan stew (thick and sweet - I know I saw dried papaya go in during preparation!), mashed white and sweet potatoes, and we brought deep fried ramen balls to be a little adventurous. Apples and caramel dip with cookies, and pumpkin cheesecake with caramel sauce for dessert.

Today I'm going to the zoo with my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew since they said they could get us in for free. I hope people are spending today with their families instead of going to the zoo too.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

I'm spending much of the day cooking - Thanksgiving is so early here, I'm still not used to it and it always sneaks up on me. I'm making a couple of untraditional dishes since we still have tons of vegetables from the last harvest and I'm using those up any way I can.

Aside from making the usual turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, and potatoes, I'm using up some zucchini and summer squash with this salad:

I'm using a kuri squash for the pumpkin pie - it's supposed to make a better pumpkin pie than pumpkin. It doesn't matter since I have kuri squash to use up.

I got a good start yesterday and made some things ahead of time. I'm going to watch DVDs in the kitchen while I cook, and later start sipping a little wine. Will be a nice day.

You're tasting every thing else while you're cooking, so you should taste test the wine as well. We did Turkey Day yesterday. The cat that eats human food has been asleep since. The kitchen is still a mess. Leftovers today, and loads of turkey sandwiches. Beautiful weekend. Enjoy everyone.
