So I rescued a cat a few months ago from my work, she was up for adoption and somehow literally broke her patella in half we don't know for sure what happened.  They (the vet I work for) didn't want to pay for an orthopedic surgeon to fix it, so I offered to take her and  my dad said he could give it a whirl (he is a semi retired vet) it just may not be perfect.  So he did what he could as we figured it was better than an amputation if she could keep her leg.  Anyways she has a limp on her leg, but I don't think it causes her any pain.  At first she was knuckling under on that leg, but now it is normal for her she walks normally.  Is there any harm in leaving her leg as opposed to an amputation, because she is limping on it?   It looks like she will probably be staying here permanently as hubby said she could integrate with our cats now.  She is able to climb stairs and jump on things just fine.  I don't think it causes her any pain as she doesn't act painful when it's palpated or anything.  She is about a year and a half old.
