My cat Jere broke her leg about 36 hours ago. The break is so severe that the surgery required may cost up to $4,000 I want to do what's best for Jere, but I'm not sure that the surgery is best, she's ten years old loves to be outdoors and someone said that amputation of that leg would be the best solution. Where can I go to have the leg amputated for a reasonable cost?

I'm so sorry this has happened to Jere (and your wallet).  That sounds pretty painful for her.  I obviously don't know anything about what happened or what is best for her, but I would suggest you just start calling around to many different Vets in your area for quotes.  Different Vets can charge vastly different amounts for basically the same procedure.

Amputation sometimes CAN be the best option...what did the Vet who is treating her right now say about that?  Could THEY make a recommendation  for someone who is less expensive, or can you simply ask them if they will work with you on the cost? (If you trust them)   BTW, even older cats can adapt to amputation fairly well, if that is a concern.

for your little one, whichever path you decide to take.
