I have a couple of tummy questions.  The first one is about how my kitty uses his litter box.  Oftentimes he meows before going potty (not during, which I know isn't a good sign).  He peed ok and then he started to paw around as if he was getting ready to poop.  He abruptly stopped and walked out of the box.

I know he had plenty of litter in it but I added some more just in case he wanted extra.  I know it was clean enough for him as I scooped it just before this happened.

Pumpkin's been pooping pretty good and is on Laxatone three times a day and Lactulose twice daily.  He urinates two to three times a day.

This morning when I got back from doing wash, he escaped to the inner hallway.  I was chatting with my next door neighbor, who absolutely adores my kitty.  The inner hallway is shared between both our apartments and it leads to both outer hallways - front and back entrance.  He tries to escape but between the two of us Pumpkin hasn't managed to get outdoors.  Anyway, it's a medium-traffic area and imo, they need to vacuum it more often.

I noticed what appeared to be a small strip of plastic off a Walmart bag.  It was about 1/4 inch wide and two or three inches long.  Before I could stop him, Pumpkin ate it.

He's acting fine otherwise but I don't know what possessed him to do this.  Could this make him sick?  Should I check his poop for it?

Pumpkin has had strange things before.  A couple of months ago my father brought some corn from his garden.  Before i had a chance to put it away Pumpkin started chewing on the husks.   He was ok after that but I thought that was odd.

Thoughts, anyone?  Thanks!

Not long after I posted the first message, Pumpkin had a good poop in his litter box!  It could be he didn't think he had enough littler in it the first time?  I don't know......I use more than 10 pounds at a time.

He's acting ok but I am still concerned about that small slip of plastic that came off a Walmart bag.  Please, I hope someone can advise me on that?  It wasn't very big (about 1/4 inch wide if that) and a couple or 3 inches long at the most.  These newer bags they have seem really cheap and they tear easy.

Help!

A worried Kitty Mommy  :(

With all the Wal - mart bags my Mia has gotten ahold of over her 3 1/2 years of life so far and survived, I'm pretty sure a little scrap like that will probably pass with no event!  lol I have hidden bags and she has found them or people have brought them in before I noticed. She has figured out how to slip in and out of places without you seeing her where bags of stuff may be and ate some plastic so no longer. As of the last 3 months every plastic bag has been removed from my place as she did get ahold of one I tied and she ate the knot and almost choked to death. Thank God she was able after several tries to throw it back up. Everything else had always "come out in the end".
