Just for tonight.

He is going to get neutered in the morning.

I dread all the hissing when I bring him home tomorrow.

I am sure it will be ok with all the kitties . Maybe you can place some vanilla extract on the cats , so all of them smell alike . Or place him in a room by himself or less cats . Good luck for your kittie

Isn't withholding the food the worst?? I always felt so guilty when I had to do that.

Good luck w/ the neuter, it will go fine!!

Wanna hear something PITIFUL??

Every time I have to starve one of my cats for surgery, I'd go on a fast and make other cats go on a fast also until after I put the cat in the carrier THEN I'd feed the other cats before leaving for the surgery place BUT I wouldn't eat UNTIL I got the cat back home and try to feed him/her after the surgery...

Always felt guilty if I tried to eat and one of the cats couldn't eat due to surgery the next day.

I didn't know about with holding food. I let all of my cats eat the night before they got neutered. I'm pretty lucky.

Well, that's the only way to make sure that the specific cat waiting for surgery doesn't eat food. If I fed the other 3, that cat might try to steal food. So, what I did was give them TONS of food and water before 9 pm then took food away then at midnite took water away for the night. In the morning, I would put the cat in a carrier THEN put food/water out again for the other 3 cats then I'd leave to take the cat to the vet...

IRONICALLY, I'd go on a fast myself cuz I felt so guilty eating knowing that that cat can't eat before surgery. Grin..

My vet never told me a thing about not feeding them. When I got Simba neutered, he had food and water all night and into the morning, before he went to the Vet.

How interesting.. The cats have to be put to sleep before the surgery so the vets always ask us to not feed them after 9 pm and no water after midnight... I have had over 9 cats spayed/neutered and had them done at various places and always were told this by all the vets.
Hmmmmm..

My vet always tell me no food after mitnight , but water is ok to drink . I guess each vet is different . When I got Ginger spayed , early in the morning she snug out of the bedroom and so did not know if she had something to eat or not . I told them at the vet office and the lady there told me she will tell the vet and make a not to get her spayed as the last one , like around 2 pm .

Yeah that's interesting. They shouldn't have anything to eat for several hours before being put under anesthesia(not sure on the exact hours)

Anyway. The procedure went really well and my baby is back safe and sound.I think he is mad at me though.
He's not staying on top of me like he usually does.
Maybe he will be my baby again by tomorrow.
