My cat is scratching its but on the carpet and going poo on the carpet just a tiny bit that looks like diarrhea it just started

Could it be worms
Or the new food I've been feeding it
Can fleas cause this?

We have the cat put in the bathroom until we figure out what's going on

It sounds like classic symptoms of impacted anal glands.  These can be expressed at the vets office easily, and should solve the problem for now.  Cats with anal gland issues often also have soft stool, which would benefit from treatment and help solve the gland issue long term as well.

Do all cats get that? I know my dogs do, but I did not know cats did.

You can also express the glands yourself at home, though I must warn you that the gland secretions STINK horribly
and you should do this in an easily cleaned place with an old towel under the cat and lots of pet safe wipes to clean up the cat afterwards. You may need an extra pair of hands to hold the cat still. Have the vet do it the first time and show you how it is done. I have to express my Aby's glands every now and then. Fortuntely he'll hold more or less still for me.
