This morning I seen Mr Ferderik straining in his litter then then turned around to kick littler over what he did stopping because there wasn't anything in there, I then realised he had poop hanging out of his bottom. He is on dry food with ample water provided, we have also started giving him 2-3 2cm cubes of chicken or lamb ( every 2nd day) . Since we have started giving him bits of meat his poop has started hardening up at first I thought it was him getting older but now I'm worried. Eeep please help :(

There are things you can feed him to help him pass the stool but he may have to see a vet.  Have you tried pumpkin or something like laxatone?

The dry food is causing the problem.   Does he eat wet food?

Ever since we got him from the rescue centre he has been on dry food, and it's what he had there.
He has always had loose stools up until last week when I started giving him te raw food.
I'll try pumpkin tomorrow and see how he goes, he hasn't been worried or different I'm just a worrier. He's my precious and I don't want him getting sick.

Raw food and canned greatly reduce stools my cats go every other day and stool very small, I feed no dry!

Remember - it's regular canned pumpkin not pumpkin pie filling. Check the ingredient to make sure it's 100% pumpkin. Unflavored Miralax (the same one people use) could also be given. The dose is 1/8 teaspoon to 1/2 teaspoon dissolved in about 1 ml of water and then mixed into canned food once a day.

Some people feel that feeding both dry and raw is a recipe for digestive issues. Raw meat is digested pretty quickly while dry food takes longer. It sounds like you are only giving small amounts occasionally as treats? That shouldn't cause constipation but every cat is different.

If you cooked a pumpkin (plain with nothing added) and pureed it in a blender with some water, it should be fine to give to your cat.
