We got Simon from a shelter 3 weeks ago. He has been so wonderful and gentle. But in the last week he has started getting sores on his chin, losing his hair, and losing hair around his eyes. His eyes seem a bit swollen.

He is eating okay, slightly runny poop, still acts normal. He has a vet appointment on Friday but I was hoping to get opinions before that.

Your baby is not well.Make another somewhere else asap.Friday is too long.
Any idea on what it could be? Should I worry about my kids or myself catching something?

Hi Losing hair can be many things.Ringworm is usually on the ears.but just looking at the eyes is just not good.I've had kitties for over 30 yrs.you need to go to a vet asap.As for your kids, get them washing their hands. But I don't think this is a catchy thing but rather something serious in the kitten's health to be honest. Is the kitten in a room by itself or running around?

He likes to be anywhere I am. Wanting held and petted. If I get up to go to another room he follows me meowing. He likes to lay in the bathroom floor though

While shelters or should I say most shelters do their very best in control of viruses etc from one cat to another.things happen. Was this kitten inoculated?Has it ever been to a vet? Have you tried a flea comb to see about the flea situation?Any sneezing? He follows you because he loves you.You are his Mom./So pls do the right thing. This kitty is not well.Pls take it in right away. The only immunity it has is from it's Mother's milk. The mother could have been feral and had never been inoculated.I do rescue.TNR of ferals.I have found many kittens that were left by there Mom & left starving.Usually Mom goes hunting and either gets run over or a coyote.Just ugly things. I could write you a book.I can tell just my the pic it is NOT right. Please take my advice before your little one is no longer following you.

As far as I know from the shelter, he was an owner turn in. The mother was a barn cat. So I'm not sure if she had been vaccinated or vet checked. He went to the vet the day after I brought him home and had a healthy check off. He's had only one vaccination at the shelter and was supposed to go next week for the rest but I called to get him in earlier and Friday was the earliest time.

We got a dog from the same shelter a few years ago and he had ringworm. So I know sometimes they may try to keep everyone doing well but not always successful. He seems to be itchy. Always rubbing his face or chin. I'm scared for him so I'll take him in the morning and see what they say. I was hoping someone had seen it before and could give me advice to get him relief before then

Hi.My Border Collie had mange. It was on her nose area. She was very itchy.I think and I'm trying to remember and things may have changed now but I think I remember bathing her with some really stinky stuff from the vet.The vet took a scraping and looked at it under the microscope.Has the kitty been in contact with any other animals at all?
