Hi. My adoptable kitten Bobbie-Finn had a seizure last night. Nothing seemed to lead up to it, and the research I've done all said there were three stages, which included the aura stage. She didn't show any of this. My brother was playing with her, her brother, and my dog in the kitchen with a feather wand toy. He says she jumped up to get the toy, landed, and started shaking. When I got to her, after several seconds, she looked like she might be choking because she kept grunting, and pawing forward. Then I realized her body was stiff and twitching simultaneously.
So, to remove her from the attention of her brother and my dog, I wrapped her in a towel and brought her to my room, laying her on my bed in the towel, and saying her name over and over again. She went through a distinct panting/distress phase, and the closer she got to coming out of it, the more she meowed. After recovering for about thirty minutes, she decided to get up and jump down off the bed. Naturally, I wouldn't let her get up and at it that soon, and she tolerated it. All in all, her recovery time was an hour. The seizure itself was four if not five minutes.
I have no experience with seizures and from her current condition, it's hard to tell anything happened at all. She was just spayed a month ago, she had a microchip put in, she got her beginning series shots three weeks ago. She tested negative for all major feline virus and disease. Other than that, the only thing I can think of that was different was the nutrient paste I added to their food yesterday... made by Richards Organics or Richards Natural? I only add it once a week. They've had it before, but have always eaten around it on the plate. If it did ever cause this, I didn't see it happen.
Any ideas what could have caused this or could it be over stimulation? I would like to know what to expect of diagnosis. Thanks.

It's impossible to guess with any degree of accuracy with respect to seizures.  Often the cause is idiopathic (unknown) or it could be a seizure disorder like the onset of epilepsy, but seizures are generally neurological and while in rare cases it could be due to an imbalance like in fluids or electrolytes, it is more likely to have a brain-related cause.  A vet should be able to help, and if this recurs then a vet visit is mandatory.

Just wanted to update and add two cents to the pool of experience shared on this site. Bobbie-Finn went to the vet, who found 'possible' evidence of a post-concussion. Apparently, she had hit her head, but it isn't known if it was simultaneous with the seizure or if she already had a concussion when she started playing. But it does make sense, since they're so energetic, they think nothing of running into whatever is in their way. Shell be going back in a few weeks to check the blood vessels in her eyes, to be sure that the damage is getting better. The concern is that there was no concussion, only a narrowing of the blood vessels, which would indicate a problem.

Will update then!
