Well it looks like the boys will not be getting fixed. I had to fly my sister down. She has a rare genetic disorder and hasn't been getting any form of medical attention for two years. A very, very long story short she has learned the truth and has decided that it is better for her health that she come back to live with us. So I had to spend the money that I was going to use to get them fixed. What am I going to do? I really do not want them to start spraying and I don't want them to start getting aggressive.

They are still little.  You could try doing a search for any clinics or shelters running free or low cost neutering clinics in your area over the coming weeks and months.

Good luck with this, and with your sister moving back home and getting the medical care she needs too.

It is already discounted. My problem is that no one works in my family. Every once in a while I will get a pet sitting gig (which is where this money came from) but it isn't often enough. I have one person who uses me when they go on vacation, but everyone else who emails me never responds. Though my mom just got a job, so in about two months or so we should be getting them neutered. I live in a rural area and no one is hiring at the moment. I am hoping that in two months time we will be able to get it done. On a side note Doctor is doing well. He has an appointment on Friday to make sure that his eye problem has been cleared up. His paw is doing okay. The open wound has closed, though his pad has not yet grown over his skin. Will his pad regrow? I suppose I can just ask the vet on Friday. I have started to let him go outside when it is sunny. But he only goes out for a few minuets a day. Thank you. I am happy she is coming home, but we still have a lot of issues we have to work out.

I'm not sure how skin heals on a paw pad so will be interested to hear how Doctor does.  Good luck with getting a bit more money put aside for a couple of months time.

I had to change his appointment to Saturday at 2:30. The only car that my family owns is in the shop and wont get done till later tomorrow night. I will have to make sure I ask the vet about his paw pad. Thank you. I really hope we can get all of their stuff done.

Now I have to cancel his appointment all together. My car broke down so it is in the shop. We were supposed to get it back tomorrow but now they are saying it will take until Monday and it will be an extra 300 dollars. By the time I get the car back I will have to go straight to this pet sitting job. And after that I have to pack to go to California AND my sister flies in. There will be no time to take him to the vet and I probably wont have the money either! Thankfully if anything goes wrong while I am away my mother will take him in. I am not as worried as I was before. There are no open wounds on hi paw now and he has stopped limping.

Sounds like you've had a hard week and more to come.  I am relieved for you that his paw looks to be healing now and no more limping - this is good.   Also that you have confidence in your mom getting him to the vet if needed while your are away.  Bills and break downs are so hard to get through and come out the other side but I'm sure you will find a way.  I just had two massive repair bills arrive on my doorstep a couple of years after the work was done and we had been told we would not be billed because there had been issues with how the work was organized.  It will use up all my savings but, like you, getting my cat to the vet will always be a priority and some how or another if it has to happen it will, maybe after a lot of stress and heart ache and hard work but it will happen if it has to.  I hope you manage to get your car back Monday and at no more expense.

Thanks. I am so happy that I know she will take him to the vet if the need arises. I will be watching him like a hawk. I really hope that we get our car back. I am pet sitting on Monday and I don't want the dogs and cat to have to be locked in their crates all day. Thank you for the well wishes! I will have to upload a picture of the boys soon! As soon as I can get them all to sit in one place!

Tater (my miniature schnauzer) got a hair cut today and Astrid doesn't recognize him. Mouse was just like 'Whatever he is in the house hes cool', Doctor went around him to sniff his butt, and Astrid straight just will have nothing to do with him. I am hoping tomorrow he will be a bit better. Tater sleeps in my room with the cats.

Poor Tater, and poor Astrid!   It must have been a brutal hair cut!

I knew a woman once who's young daughter used to freek out when she tied her hair back or had it cut very differently.   It was like if the general outline was changed she couldn't recopgnize people.   Thankfully it was only when she was tiny...    I think it can be quite common with hair grooming for animals and the scent change probably adds to it.   Once Tater is back to being a bit stinky and got his usual odour about home hopefully all his chums will welcome him back.

Doctor is definitely the bold on in your house huh?

I know. The cats walked inside and Astrid almost ran into Tate and poor Tate almost got his ears clawed off! I hope so. Actually Mouse is usually the bold one. He likes new things and isn't afraid to explore. Doctor usually stays at home and cuddles up with his humans. Mouse was the first to do everything except try to climb. Doctor was the first to try to climb though Mouse was the first to actually climb a tree.

I think Astrid might be sick. He was fine yesterday but earlier he was sitting outside and he sat in the same spot for almost four hours. I picked him up and brought him inside. I really thought something was wrong when I accidentally sprayed him with water and he didn't do anything. He just sat their and blinked. After I brought him inside he walked over and laid on the floor. He is not limping and has no cuts or anything. I have not seen him eat anything but I have been syringe feeding him water. He threw up sometime late last night. There wasn't anything in it. I am hoping that if I make sure he gets food and water this will go away. He just looks like he has had a bad day. I think he might have eaten something bad. I know it wasn't poison because no one around me uses it. We all have animals so we all make sure that it isn't used. Do any of you have an idea? I cannot take him to the vet until we get paid. That is about four days away. If he doesn't get better by then I will be taking him to the vet.

I hope Astrid starts to feel better but in any case best to see the vet after you've got paid to be on the safe side.
Best wishes to you both.

Not been in much today and just seen this.  Poor Astrid, you must be really worried and I really hope this isn't anything serious.  Fingers crossed it is something he's eaten like you say and that what ever it is gets out of his system quickly.

Other than poison what I'm wondering about is if there's any way he could have to access to some string,  a plant that might act the same,  or something else that might block his system?  If you touch his belly does he seem uncomfortable at all, and is his breathing normal?  So hard to tell if a cat is in pain or not.

If he is still looking the same and you're still worried is there any way your vet might agree to see Astrid and have some sort of payment agreement to settle things once you've been paid?  Might be worth asking.  Horrible worrying and seeing something is wrong but not being able to do anything.

I am sorry for taking so long to reply. I only just saw the you guys responded. Astrid is doing better. The day after I posted this he started eating. I didn't take him to the vet because he started to eat again. I figured if he got bad again then I would take him in. But he never did. It is horrible not knowing what is wrong. That is one of the reasons I was so tore up about Baby Kitty. I didn't know what was wrong with her and I knew there was nothing I could do to help. The boys were kept inside for a while because they kept trying to eat the chickens and other livestock. I realized that they didn't think they were getting enough food. So instead of just feeding them once a day I split it up into two feedings. After that they stopped trying to eat the livestock. Now they chase everything, but never try to kill it. I will be posting a couple of videos and pictures later on. The boys all have collars, but they are break away collars. They loose them so often! I usually find them shortly after they are lost, but Mouse lost his collar like a month ago and I have not been able to find it. So I finally just bought him a new one.

The boys are getting fixed tomorrow. They are getting fixed at the same place Morticia got fixed. I am so nervous. My brain is telling me that it is a different surgery and what happened to Baby Kitty cannot happen to them, and then I think about her and my heart clenches. I know they need to get fixed, but this is really hard. I took in a pregnant stray a few months ago and she gave birth. I am getting her to kittens fixed tomorrow as well. She cannot get fixed because she is about to give birth again, but her and this new litter will be getting fixed as soon as they are all able. I am afraid something is going to go wrong with one of the surgeries tomorrow. I will update you all when I have them home. I think I will have to post some new pictures as well.

Most of the time nothing goes wrong at all - in fact it is usually very easy on males and young cats in general. It's good you are having them done. You will be relieved!

Good luck! :)

It is natural that you feel this anxiety because of what happened to Morticia, but it is so rarely things go so wrong for female spays, and for males the surgery is much more simple and a lot faster so the risks are very low.

I'm glad you are taking the kittens in tomorrow, and also future planning for this stray mama cat and her imminent kittens.   Will be thinking of you tonight and tomorrow, and waiting to hear how the surgeries have gone.
