Do any of you give your kitties fish oil for their skin and coat and what kind if so? Got some hot spots going on here and am thinking it could be from the dry air here in AZ rather than food allergies...

Plenty of members give their kitties fish oil, some for skin and coat, some for other health benefits. Both salmon or krill are very common. Sometimes it depends on what your kitty will accept. Mine didn't like salmon, but krill was OK, even though I tasted it and thought krill was much nastier!

Many members use Now Neptune krill oil. With fish/krill oil in soft gels you have to pierce the gel cap along the seam and squeeze it out. It does take practice.

If you look at other brands of fish/krill oil, you should remember to look at all the ingredients. Some add flavorings or other ingredients to address fish burps or add other health benefits, but not all the ingredients are tolerated by kitties.

Ha, yes I know about the flavoring as hubby was giving STRAWBERRY flavored fish oil to them! Needless to say we stopped that and just wanted to know a good brand.

I gave my cat half a capsule of Kirkland Signature Omega-3 Fish Oil everyday for a year. However, someone else took over the feeding responsibilities and she haven't had any since last year. It has made no noticeable difference to her coat which is still silky smooth as always!
