When I took my recent rescue to the vet last week, she was found to have some abdominal bloating that the vet believes is secondary to swallowing air when she eats--she has a dental infection which interferes with her ability to chew normally. He was not overly concerned as she is not in any distress and the air swallowing will hopefully improve once she has the problem tooth extracted. I was just wondering if there is anything I can be doing in the mean time to control the bloating and gas. Again, it seems to bother me as a paranoid pet owner a lot more than it does her.

Is she passing gas?  Perhaps its also a food intolerance?

Maybe a very soft food that she can lap instead of trying to chew would help, if the tooth is the problem.

I tried mixing her wet food with broth or water early on and she wouldn't touch it. I did some reading online and I will try dividing her food into more frequent smaller meals.
I will ask the vet about food intolerance. She's been on various antibiotics since August so I wouldn't be surprised if her gut flora is a little messed up...

Antibiotics could definitely cause it. Maybe you should give her probiotics or yogurt for a while to get things back in balance.
