It's not real excessive but at the same time it's not exactly normal either. He's about 15 weeks old and since I've had him he does sneeze 2-3 times a day I've noticed. I think he still ha some black stuff around his nostrils. Anyone know what this could be from? It doesn't seem serious however and he's a very playful vibrant boy.

I don't know about the black stuff, but the sneezing could be allergy-related. Mogli has sneezing fits on days when certain pollen counts, e.g., birch, are high. I usually wipe his eyes and nose with a wet tissue to give him some relief.

This has never happen to any one my cats but a friend of mine it did to two or her cats. It can be one of two things

1) Ringworm,when she adopted him,he came home with ringworm. Ringworm is a common fungal skin infection and is caused by a microscopic group of parasitic fungal organisms known as dermatophytes (which means "plants that live on the skin"). They invade the outter layers of the skin, hair, and claws. His nose was very affected by it along with the inner part of his ears. She took him to the vet and had to bathe him in lime sulfur about every 4 days for 2-4 weeks. It took a long time for it to go away but it finally did. Check out other parts of your kitty's body for sores, hair loss, and so forth. If you find something like that, your vet will be able to determine what it is and give him the best treatment to get rid of it.

2)Dermatological Problem, her other cat never had ringworms but she developed this dark, scab-like "thing" on the top of her nostril which spread to both sides of her nose. She would scrape it off or clean it with a wet cotton ball, only for it to reappear a few days later. We thought she got the ringworm like her male kitty had so she would wash the area with the lime sulfur shampoo she bought from the vet but the scab was coming back. She took her to the vet after many attempts to get it cleaned and found out that she had a skin problem not related to ringworms and the treatment was three sets of DepoMedrol shots. The shots cost about $30 each. After the second set, the "scab" started to get better but it was only after the third and last shot that it was finally gone. It's been 4 months now and the "scab" has not returned but she keep an eye on her nose and if it returns, She know what to do. The vet said that it may or may not return... Being that it is a skin condition, you never know what could happen. All I know is that she is better now.

I wouldn't scrape the scab off your kitty's nose to avoid getting irritated or inflamed. Just take him to the vet and hopefully it won't be ringworm. Don't ignore the problem and think is the litter or buggers! I have never heard of clumping litter being bad unless your kitty eats it. Also, just so you know, ringworm is not a "worm" but it is contagious to human and other animals.

I hope everything works out

Thanks all. Appreciate your time and replies. I'll re-check it again I asked the vet last time.
