I know this question has been asked a million times but it is ok to leave cat alone for 3 days exactly? I did it last Christmas and he was fine. he looked like he didn't even notice I was gone when I got home! Just checking to lessen my guilt.

Our cats definitely notice. Our cats might be different though... they follow us to the bathroom door and grunt when it's not open, they howl when we leave, and they're mad (but grateful) when we get back. The longest I'll ever leave my pets is 1.5 days - mostly because I have the birds too - to ensure they're more or less fed and clean right before and right after our trip. I'm more worried about the freshness of their food and the cleanliness of their boxes, but when it comes to the cats themselves, even if they are very attached, they do fine. Think about how much they sleep anyway.

I've known some cats who really didn't show a care in the world when their owners came and went though.

I'm not comfortable doing it.  I could never leave 3 days of food out and I'd hate to see the litter boxes when I get back.  I know these 2 would binge and then throw it up...
A timed feeder would be an option.

Fortunately we have a house sitter that has been coming here for 5 years now.  And I've known her since we were teenagers.  I wouldn't want just anyone here; but it gives me peace of mind to know they are being looked after and not left completely alone.

... all of it, right down to the binge eating..

Is there someone who could look in on them?
