Flat front paws

My calico kitty is 14 years old. This year she passed her vet check as fine, regardless some weight loss. She was always overweight so I keep worrying something is up with her. What is most visually concerning is that her front paw pads (foot) are looking longer and longer when she walks toward me, almost like her foot to "elbow" is flattening. Her paws are unusually large but I cannot determine if she always had them or not, since she was always a fluffy longhair kitty. I am just worried something is going on but not sure. She is very gentle and loving, still runs and plays (though less than usual, she avoids running up her cat tree lately), and spends her time on my lap or sleeping. Could this be arthritis? She has a kinky tail since birth and always had a funny walk, with her hind legs kind of separated wide. She doesn't let me touch her paws but again, she never did. Could her weight loss be causing some issues? Thanks in advance!

These are all valid and concerning questions, ones that you should absolutely ask your vet about. I have no advice or experience with arthritis in animals but if this is the case I imagine the sooner it is medicated and under control, the better. Best of luck with your old girl!

@Janea -- my 14 year old girl, snick, has what sounds like the same thing your girl has with her front legs/paws. my snick only has it with one of her front legs/paws. i would definitely discuss this with your vet. in my snick's case, our vet said that she's seen this before in older cats and that it seems to be caused by many years of pressure/stress from normal jumping down from things. however, there may be a different cause for your girl, and it may need treating. so i'd suggest discussing this with your vet, so you can be sure what the cause is.

Thank you, he saw her just recently but said it's nothing, except she needs her senior labs and ultrasounds. I could not afford it at the time so I might try later this year. Thank you very much for your insight. :)
