First let me start off with, I am here for knowledge, not lectures. My cat is a year and a half old. She escaped out the door twice in a 3 day period of moving things into our house. She has recently gave birth to 4 small but very healthy and content kittens. It has been 5 days since there birth. My cat has showed no signs of distress. She has been eating and drinking well, bathroom breaks are normal beside the slightly larger size of her poo, and nothing out of the ordinary appears to be wrong. She has been purring, and friendly and inviting, and seems very content and comfortable. But I still had not tried to mess with her babies and belly until today. This evening I was setting here next to her box and noticed she was panting and laboring again, so I petted her gently and slowly down the side of her belly and it seems there are at least 2 long bumps in her belly. These bumps appear to be moving under the skin. Now I have had cats deliver a day or 2 apart, but 5 days apart. So my main question is : Is it possible for my cat to have carried 2 litters full term and birth 2 separate times 5 days apart? I know a cat can be pregnant with 2 litters, but I've only read that they deliver both litters in the same birthing. Please. I am very interested in knowing! Again I remind you, she seems very normal as if she was having the first litter, with no other problems shown. Thank you!     P.S.  She has cared for everyone of her kittens very well, she is very attentive to them, and even through the laboring she cares for them.

Yes, they can have two different litters simultaneously, and deliver both of them, in different time, healthy and well - both litters  weeks apart.  Both litters having theirs   about 65 days pregnancy.

Although the typical  is about 3 weeks difference.   I havent heard about just 5 days.

Lets hope they are such a second litter anyway - and come down healthy.

Or they are late comers from the same litter.  Ie from the same litter, but born later on.   THIS happens, but seldom whole 5 days.  One, two, even three days is more common.

Cats manage late deliveires better than humans.

So lets hope everything is OK!    Im optimistic by the sound you write, but I must admit this is  a quite unusual  scenario, on the verge of medical sensation.

  I do hold my thumbs.

Had you contacted your vet?

Good luck!!

ps.  This whole analysis depends you DO feel two extra kittens moving.   If it werent so, I would say it is crash emergency, away immediately to your vet, for antibiotica and such and if necessary an emergency surgery...

ps 2.   Do handle them kittens somewhat, even if you dont weigh them every day.   It let you notice any postive or negative changes.   For example, if they have fleas... (yes, it happens fleas are discomered this way, or in a tragic scenario - they werent discovered, because the owner though she shoulndnt touch the kittens till they began to walk around)

Ok, Yes the kittens are definitely moving in there, I thought it was odd her ribs was so pushed out after she had her kittens, but all seems normal. She is still panting and you can see her trying to push now. The kittens appear to be moving lower in her stomach today, more so than yesterday. And Yes I have spoke to my vet, he even came to my house this morning and is amazed but not worried. If she hasn't had them by tonight, I will take her in for an ultrasound tomorrow. She isn't showing any signs of discomfort or distress, all really seems normal. You see I am a mother of seven children, and work full time, but money is tight and my vet said because she shows no signs of illness or weakness or fever or pain, she just might be a goo carrier for kittens. This will be her only pregnancy for I will make sure she gets fixed. But income doesn't allow me to just jump at first concern. My vet didn't even charge me to stop by and see her. I think he was just as interested in the answers as I was, but agrees we shouldn't disturb her unless something starts changing about her. I really think she is going to be ok having these kittens and would be a champ to do so. Thank you for your help and I will for sure let you know how this turns out. I think I am more concerned than my Pretty Girl.

l. You see I am a mother of seven children, and work full time,
Yes, I see and understand you are used to manage difficulties and chaotic conditions.

Its if fact one of my standard advices for desperate newbe rescuers, who have much good will, but no clue.   I tell them to try and get advice from some neigbour used with cats - preferably a rescuer.  But if they dont have any such, try to get hold on a mother of several children.   These are used to organize things and manage however the difficulties are...   :)

Good luck!
