I rescued a stray kitten a few days ago. She was very skinny and had lots of fleas. We took care of the fleas, and have been feeding her regularly. However, I noticed when we first fed her that her tummy got swollen, or bloated. We haven't taken her to a vet yet, but we are planning to soon. I haven't seen any worms in her stool and she poops pretty regularly. When I got home today I noticed a little blood in her stool, but it wasn't a lot. it was a little dark, and the poop was pretty soft. I was just hoping to find out if there is something I could do in the mean time. She doesn't seem to be bothered by it, she is active and lively and when I press on her belly (lightly) she doesn't show any signs of being in pain. I don't know if its because her stomach is getting used to the food, or she has worms, etc. Someone please enlighten me D:

She has worms or parasites. Could have both. My little Norvy (4 1/2 months) was almost 4 weeks when I got him and he was full although you couldn't see them and he was bones because everything that went into him came out just as fast. He went through deworming with drontal 3 times and 3 weeks of med (trying to remember name ) for coccidia (parasite) that took forever to get rid of. He had liquid diareaha from it all. The coccidian causes vomiting also. I finally got his bowels and stomach under control by using a 1/4 tsp. of Fresh Digest In Clover with his food daily about 2 weeks ago and for the last week he has had solid stools for the first time in his little life. Even after he had become parasite and worm free he had been sick so long he needed that help to get on track.  :)

I'll get her to a vet asap. That happens to get too, it seems like she poops more often than she should. Thank you so much!

All kittens need a routine deworming the bloat is probably from parasite. If you go too long without treatment they will get very ill and can die. Worms in the stool or not in the stool isnt a good indicator of parasite because most of the time you can't see them. The vet will take a sample and look under the microscope to figure out what it is. Your kitty needs a visit to the vet and probably a good deworming.

Yes this is true. They need the dewormings along with their routine shots. My vet gives them 3 sets of rountine dewormings along with the shots  and then has to have an all clear slide before they are done. Or should I say the vet I have now does that. Norville was full of worms and parasites though so we went through a lot with him and this is a new vet for Mia and Norville both,
