...if so, were they identified and what was your solution?

Mikki has scabs on her back which develop into hot spots.. its not like she seems bothered by itching...but the scabs appear, then she is drawn to them and licks them. We've tried elimination of certain proteins and grains with no luck. Wondering if it could be something as simple as the dry air here (Phoenix)..she had one scraped for testing for mites but it was negative. At one point she almost had to have surgery as she wouldn't let the shoulder blade alone... she had a cortezone shot..but we only allowed one of those ... put a shirt on her and anti itch cream and she healed up where it's not a threat anymore.

My kitties have seasonal airborne allergies that result in sneezing and runny eyes.  For your situation, it sounds like it could be possibly food related.  Have you tried a limited ingredient diet?

Yes at that time we had two cats thus both went on duck and pea (canned) but they hated it...tried for several weeks ...we did switch over their dry food to natural balance duck and pea too.. which they liked then decided just to keep them on their fancy feast wet but eliminated any chicken from their diet for 2 months but that did nothing so eliminated fish next...nothing. Didn't try eliminating beef...and of course their could be just something else in the canned fancy feast she is allergic too... it 's one of those things she doesn't seem itchy or bothered.. But when she bathes herself she obviously feels it and sometimes that triggers her focusing on one spot. For us...we got complacent just because she gobbles all her fancy feast (was finicky with other foods and threw up sometimes with some foods but not FF) but obviously if she has scabs...I feel like we should do more to diagnose it...and now that her sister is no longer with us..maybe should try it again.

My first cat, Bear, had severe food allergies. Her biggest allergen was peas, which is in just about every dry cat food. She also couldn't have any poultry products or grains. It was very difficult to find food that she could eat. The last year of her life I switched her to a raw diet. If you only have one cat I would suggest trying this. I fed her Nature's Variety Rabbit raw. She loved it and it didn't have any of her allergens in it.
