Did I do something that can't be undone?

A week or two ago before I took the time to read about cat behavior, play, affection I was getting upset because kitty would attack my hands. I thought it was an attack but it was just play. So I put my body on her not pressure but just to hold her down so she knew I was not pleased and like I heard mama cats do. This was a mistake in retrospect and I'm wondering how I can erase it from her memory? She use to sleep on the bed and now doesn't until the morning when she wakes me up with kisses or purrs and it makes me sad. Maybe she's just getting out of her kitten phase but I doubt that since she's 5 months old.

I think it's more like she feels like sleeping somewhere other than your bed. It's a phase. It's even possible she sneaks up while you are fast asleep. Cats are like that.

Kittens are really resilient to those kind of things. Cats in general forget those one-time incidents quite quickly. Even if you accidentally step on her tail, she will just forget it. Cats are masters in recognizing patterns, they thrive on schedules and routines. If you were to repeat the same action every day around the same time, she would remember it of course and be scared of you.

More likely she's found another place to sleep. My cats have changed sleeping places multiple times in the past 6 months (they are almost 9 months old now). The couch, the bed, the floor, the bathroom, the closet, the bed, the couch, the bed, the floor, etc.

In the end they always end up sleeping with us in the bed again after a while, and at the very least they are there in the morning to wake me up. Cats don't usually really settle all their behavior until they are adults and even then it changes sometimes.

If you know you did something wrong, just don't do it again. She'll forget about it soon. She probably already has.
If you want her to stop using your hands as toys, says NO loudly and leave her alone for a while. Then later continue playing. Use toys, not your hands. If you think it hurts now, wait until she's fully grown!
