every now and then i will notice a single clear tear drip from my cats eye. i think she has done this ever since ive had her, but im not sure. it is not a constant thing. should i be concerned?

i thought it was normal, because we have these two dogs that will sneeze and get watery eyes when people cook (because of the steam) or clean. but im concerned, when i first got kitty, 3 years ago, she started sneezing a lot, my vet gave me some medicine that cleared it up. but shes not sneezing.

any advice would be appreciated. i just hate the thought of taking her to the vet, cause she hates the car drive and hates strangers touching her. =(

could be a semi blocked tear duct. just use sterile saline and a tissue to clean the corner of her eyes so the concentrated tears don't cause irritation and if that does improve things, giver her some rescue remedy and take her to the doctor.

I would suggest adding L-lysine to her diet. 250mg twice a day for maintenance dose, and 500mg twice a day when she is having a flare-up.

I suggest this to knock down the amount of Feline Herpes viruses, which cause sneezing and watering eyes. Don't panic. 90% of the cats in the US have herpes. I have 2 that have symptoms, and the other 3 show occasional symptoms, but have never had a flare-up.
