Has anyone tried their cat on it?

I have one cat who has anxiety issues. Today he ripped up the blinds, and peed on the front door. He routinely marks the doors of the house, and the vet thinks it is behavioral.  He hates my other 2 cats who are allowed outside. Due to his allergies I can't let him outside as he is allergic to everything. I'm sure some of this has to do with him watching the outdoor cats. He is very aggressive to other cats...

I've spent over $1000 on vet visits for his urinary issues alone.

Right now he is on amytriptyline which works well. I have him on 2.5 mg a day. The vet said I can go up to 10 mg a day, but I feel like that is too much, as it makes him really dopey. I can't find anything on interactions between amytriptyline and L theanine.

I'm thinking of giving him 50 mg of L theanine in the morning, with the amitrypt. at night. The vet said I could always try a different antidepressant, but the reason we picked the amitrypt is because it also blocks histamine and can help with allergies.

Sorry your cat is having problems.
I have used l-theanine. Ritz is a stressful, type "A" cat. (She probably gets it from me..... frown2: ) Ritz is also prone to stress induced UTIs. She jumps/startles easily, sometimes hearing the most innocuous sounds like the old television making a popping noise.
I didn't notice any difference, so I discontinued it.
Feliway helps some. Though I think it is worth considering using Feliway for two weeks, not using it for two weeks, plug it in again.
Sometimes two different antidepressants work better than one.
I know there are different levels (for lack of better word) to test for urinary tract infections; have all the possible blood work been done.
And I assume he is neutered.
