It's been almost 3 weeks since Minnie has been gone and I'm so amazed how well I've handled this with God's help, BUT omg the little things that trigger the tears! I went to get treats for Mikki at PetSmart and of course just HAD to look at their kitties. There was a black one (like Min) named "Halo" of all names, and I prolly couldn't have picked who was who in a lineup if I was looking at the eye area only. I of course stood by the glass trying to get it's attention as it almost seemed like a "sign", until I did everything to try to get his attention and he would look at me LOL... so I walked thru PetSmart to get my treats , wiping tears .

Then I was showing someone a picture of my new bedspread I had on my phone, and there was Minnie's hairband on the comforter... her favorite toy. Tears again. Prolly should start drinking more water to replace what I've lost in the last 3 weeks :) But it's all good... I can chuckle through a lot of the memories as well.

You've did extremely well Mnm. Very well indeed. I think u should get that kitty if u like it. U deserve to. And your lost baby would want u to because it would want you to b happy. Animals bring so much love and wisdom into our lives.

It's a wonderful tribute to be able to pass on the love you shared with your loved one, not to replace that loved one, that could never be done, but to continue and add on to the love you built between you. When you are ready, and you will know, please consider getting a new love. Letting another into your heart does help to not dwell on your loss, but fills the emptiness that is there. I still cry 21 months later because such a great loss is truly difficult to comprehend, but time is the great healer for all of us, sometimes the ONLY thing that helps lessen the grief we feel. I'll pray for you both to find peace, you the one left behind on this earth, and for Minnie who was taken from you and has left such a hole in your heart. Take care......

It's been since April 30, 2014 that we lost our baby to an oral sarcoma.  Our Malachi was only 12 years old and we'd had him since he was four weeks old.  I held him while he crossed to the Rainbow Bridge.  Oh the agony was unbearable, and your right.  The slightest thing would trigger tears.  I am still liable to start crying if I look at his collar or his favourite toys.  But time will heal a broken heart and Malachi will always be in our hearts.  And I truly believe that we will be reunited again for eternity.

I agree Jody. Of course today was marked the day 3 weeks ago, and then this comes in the mail, but my tears came with a smile. Such a nice gesture.

What a kind thing for your vet to do.  I remember getting little plaques sometimes when I had a cat pass on.  That's something you can treasure forever, along with the good memories you have together.

It's really sweet when the vets do that. They know how much our kitties mean to us.

It takes a while for the loss and sadness to subside. Just take your time, pamper yourself, and eventually the loss becomes less acute.

When the time is right, it's a comfort to know that there are so many other kitties out there that need a good home, and they'd be so grateful for that. Many a time we've adopted a new kitty, and do it in honor or in memory of a cat we've lost.
