Feline Herpes

I recently got a kitten and her name is Jewels and we took her to the vet for other problems she had but they told us she has Feline Herpes. We got the Lysine in powder form but I don't really like it. the vet said they make it in treats. So I went online and ordered some. I was wondering how many a day I should give her?? She's almost 2 pounds. She's very small. Idk if weight affects it. Also is there anyone else that has a cat with this?? What do you do to help him/her? Thank you

I've never been able to find a treat my cats like. If she'll eat them the package usually says 2 for adults I would ask the vet for dosage for kittens. I think the lysine jar actually tells you the mg dosage for kittens and the dosage for adult cats. Usually 2 chews is a full adult dose of the powder. This is a common condition that brings on sores on the skin and mouth. It usually happens if the cat is stressed. I had a cat who was a runner out the front door. Everytime he got out and got lost in the neighborhood for a day he'd return and a couple days later would get sores on his nose from the stress of getting lost. The lysine will help if you are vigilant with it. Controlling cat stress is more difficult.

Which lysine treats did you buy? They all have different amounts of lysine in them. For a kitten, the dose is 250mg twice a day, however many treats it takes to get there. There should be instructions on the package.

Ali has feline auto immune disease and she gets her lysine every day in her wet food.

I buy the capsules and open them land sprinkle the power int oner wet food, mix it up good and she eats it without even knowing it is there.
