I immediately checked his penis, rear, and litter box and no blood. It must have come from his mouth. I immediately called vet and have appointment at 4:15. I hope he is all right. I cannot open his mouth to look. He is 4, could it be gum disease already?

Oh no poor Frodo :vibes: :vibes:

Was there much blood ?
Have you checked all his paw pads ?

If it came from his mouth I would think more likely he cut his mouth on something.

Good luck with the vet trip and some vibes for Frodo :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

Oh, no. I'm sorry to hear that. I believe so as my cat was taken to a shelter at the age of ~3 years old and had to have 4 teeth extracted at the rescue shelter who saved her from the shelter. I sometimes see her making a really cute face where her little goatee beard is off center and she looks like she's pondering something she's unsure about, but now I've realized I may need to take her to the vet to see if her teeth are alright...

I hope your cat is okay and it's nothing serious.

How cute! Aww, abandoned at 5 wks?

I'm pretty sure my furbaby had at least one litter of kittens as I saw enlarged, pink nipples that would indicate this and she is about ~3 & 1/2 years old and was most likely a feral cat. I wonder sometimes what happened to them...I think she was a good mother. I think that's shaped her personality a lot.

Back from the vets, good news it was only acne on his chin and lip. The vet lifted his head and a scab fell off his chin. I was afraid of getting bitten so I never looked under his chin. He had the long lasting antibiotic injection, I could not give pills he bites. I wonder what causes acne?

*phew* Yay!! If you find out, please let me know as my Bonita had chin acne when I went to adopt her. They cleaned it and gave me topical ointment, but said that I didn't have to apply it unless it happened again... I actually haven't really looked and don't know what to look for exactly... The woman said it's because of plastic bowls? Not sure what else causes it.

Frodo has a metal bowl. Vet told me to dab with peroxide. The blood was from the scab breaking off. I asked if there was anything I could change, he said no it is just like people. My cat eats only canned food that I add water to maybe his chin gets wet.

Thanks for letting me know about the peroxide. I think the woman at the rescue shelter wanted me to go see a vet if my Bonita got chin acne again...she said that topical ointment is only available through a prescription. Then, I think she did finally say peroxide might be okay...I guess I will try to look at my Bonita's chin underneath...maybe occasionally I will just swipe her chin with peroxide. :/

Plastic dishes, underlying illness, excess oil, lack of grooming(my lazy boy grooms very little), bacterial and fungal infections all contribute. I know a lot of people feed catfood on a flat plate. My cat eats out of a dog dish which might be too deep getting his chin all wet, I will change that.

Thank you! I guess I was too lazy to Google "cat chin acne"...I get acne sometimes myself. Excess oil...I hope my cat is "just like me" in that way as she is in multiple ways! o_o =P

Hmm...I have been starting to slowly work up to my new kitty allowing me to clip the tip of her claws. I've started trying to groom her again (she didn't seem to like it after just 2 days). Since she loves Feline Greenies treats, I brushed her yesterday for a bit, then gave her treats. I'm hoping to build a positive experience. Now I have to work my way up to grooming, then clipping claws tips, then treats...I may try swiping her chin after the claw tips are trimmed (if I'm successful). @_@

I had no idea kitties could get acne! Makes sense tho...

Buy a furminator works great for grooming (pulls dead undercoat)

I don't want to... =/ $33.17 on Amazon. But I reviewed it quickly and it sounds good, so I ordered it. Thank you!! Hopefully my Boss kitty will like it and sit in my lap for grooming time regularly. I cheaped out with a $6 Boots & Barkley Target grooming comb. >.< Lots of their stuff is awesome and that comb works, but I'm sure the Furminator will be much better.

Both my cats tolerate furminator. I have to feed bad boy kiblble in a dish (not plastic) while I furminate him because he bites, he is pretty wild but sheds terribly.

Thank you so much for suggesting the furminator!!! My cat likes it and seems fine with it! It arrived today!! I wasted $ on the cheap comb. :/ My cat only tolerated it for a little bit before turning her head to try to bite it. Not really me, thankfully!! Thank God she doesn't bite me anymore much. I also have learned to quickly move away when she's about to try to bite. My cat has sharpened my reflexes!!! :D

I feel sure she was feral and became semi-feral at the rescue shelter while living there for 7 months and has now become almost fully domesticated!!! She went from biting me immediately if I touched her back, to letting me pet head-to-tail 2-3 times before quickly turning her head and biting me to allowing 4-5 times to now pretty much letting me just pet her without biting!!! I don't pet for too long though after what happened the first time I pet her but still!!! I'm still waiting to pick her up to try to cuddle her though, but the furminator will help us bond even more with daily grooming time!! & hopefully no hairballs for baby!!

Lots of clapping like when I play catch with my kitty, only then I try to lightly clap to praise her!!!

I think furminator feels good to them like electric clippers on back of our neck, soothing.
