Calling "Here kitty, kitty!"
Whenever I lay a bag of greens on the bed before feeding my lizard my cat comes dashing down the hall and 'tries' to sneek some out of the bag. Someone said its because she's lacking from cat grass. Does my cat NEED cat grass?

She's adorable!

I would argue grass is not a necessity for a typical cat. Some cats really, really like grass and will chew at it any chance they get and some cats are completely indifferent. She may just be curious about the greens you've set out because they're different and they smell funny. Cat grasses like oat grass are among the more common available for cats, and they're really easy to grow.

In some cases, cats can overindulge. Our older cat went crazy when I started growing millets and proso that were leftover from my birds' sprouted seeds and he would pick at them constantly, so I went out and got him his own pot of oat grass which he would graze at everyday until he puked. After he threw up two days in a row because of the grass, I had to take it away.

Cats who aren't as dumb as ours and can self-moderate can enjoy it, and cats who are ill may use it as roughage to help get their bowels going or to cause regurgitation.

For some reason my cat loves grass! ...to the point where I have to take her away from it because she'll eat way too much and throw it all up. However, like @pinkdagger  mentioned, some cats need it to help with regurgitation. If they're working on a hairball that just won't come up, then cat grass can help.

If you're going to offer cat grass, I'd watch how much she eats, just in case it becomes too much.
