Recently my five month old kitten got sick. He was extremely listless, cried anytime I spoke to him, and had a bone dry nose. He refused to eat for about four days and, after the third day (on which he seemed at his worst) I gave him some pedialyte with a dropper (I've had experience with kittens becoming sick and losing all interest in food or water, and dehydration in cats is an extremely slippery slope). He made a relatively quick turn around and, on the fifth or sixth day, an almost full recovery. He started eating and moisture returned to his nose.

But I noticed some few days later that he is still having trouble jumping. He mostly climbs up to his favorite spots. Although he is eating and is clearly in a better condition, he's still pretty lethargic. He is only five months, and before his sickness he was your average overactive kitten. But he barely even plays now, he basically just sleeps. I wouldn't be concerned if he were full grown, but the sudden change at such a young age causes concern.

As a side note, he and my other four cats are currently receiving treatment for ear mites. I'm not sure what caused his illness but I understand the mites may have had something to do with it.

I was just curious if anyone has any ideas as to what's going on or, if anyone thinks this behavior is normal. Any input on the situation is appreciated.

I think you came very close to loosing this cat, and I would suggest a follow up vet visit.
