We adopted a 5mo old kitten from a shelter and had her on meow mix for 3 days then switched to natures variety rawboost instance or whatever it's called. I've read if you switch foods to fast they can get diarrhea. She has had it for nearly a week now and was just curious if this does happen how long typically will the fast switch cause diarrhea? Less than two weeks already been to vet twice so before we take her again i was curious about any help here. She was wormed the day we got her by the shelter so probably not that. I'm just wondering if food change can cause diarreah this long or is itaybe just the new food period? Any help would help much appreciated. Thank you.

I would feel it's the natures variety. This is raw right? A lot of pet food stores don't understand how to handle raw food and they just leave it sitting out for a day before refrigerating it. They use high school kids for stockers. I have also noticed they don't check expiration dates at a petvalu near me. I would go with a decent canned for now like wellness until you work out what the issue is with the raw.

If the diahrea is persistent try some s. Boulardi which has been getting some rave reviews on TCS.

The diahrea could also have been brought on by something the vet gave her. Any meds or vaccinations?

It is hard food.. It's the highest recommended here and has freeze dried pieces mixed in. If nothing changes in the next day or two I'll start with adding a good canned food and then on to the boulardi

We got an antibiotic from the vet for her eyes and sneezing but never gave her any. We started her on lysine and she's doing much better besides this new issue. But this all started before the lysine. No shots since we got her but was up to date when we adopted
