Not trying to scare you, but I agree. You need to seek some other medical attention. Last year, a man I worked with got a serious blood infection from an infected tooth and passed away as a result.

Wow after spending a week in the hospital and having a cut on my face and my tooth pulled all in the ER. I am out of work for the whole month of Dec and maybe longer because I have to do my OWn IV's at home
Man I never thought a tooth could get you put into the hospital. I just stopped in to let everyone know what was up. since I can only get Internet access at work. And since I am out of work it limits my posting on here
anyway My face is almost back to normal but still a little swollen. And most of you were right.....it was a BADYLY abcessed tooth....or how ever you spell it
anyway My time on the computer is limited thanks to a 20 min library time. so I will be back when I get another chance! I just thought I would let all of you know what happened to me. I wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! and a HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!!

God Bless

Infected teeth are very serious. The bacteria can travel from the tooth and gums through the sinuses and into the heart and it can lead to a heart attack (much like Deb's friend suffered) I am sorry you landed in the hospital but I am glad you are going to be okay. Tooth pain is nothing to make light of and next time you should tell your boss to take a leap and then get help right away!

I'm so glad you are ok. I've been SOOOo worried because I knew this was more serious then you were taking it. I even posted a "Where is Willows Mom" Thread and bumped it up every now and then!

So what does your boss have to say now? She ought to be held accountable for not letting you take the time off you needed so that it wouldn't get to this point. What a &%$#&

I got worried when you told us about all the problems you were having with your teeth and then just stopped posting. I'm soooo glad to find out you're ok!

P.S. Sorry, but I just can't resist posting this....

Well now that I am back at work I am back on TCS!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!! still having a few problems with my jaw but the tooth is gone and 99% of the infection is gone. I am no longer on home IV therapy. the only real problem now is the fact that I can't open my jaw all the way. I can only open it enough to fit one slice of bread between my upper and lower jaw. My Oral surgeon told me at my Appointment tuesday that if I still can't open it in a month then he's going to have to put me under and force it open all the way. Tearing my muscles to do so.

As for my boss. ever since I gave her my notes from both the first dentist i went to and from the infection Dr. She has been very understanding. Heck I called her the day I was admitted into the Hospital and told her that I was there and that I didn't know when I was going to be released and that I would call her as soon as I knew anything. and the very next day I got a voice mail from her asking me if I was coming into work that night. so I had to call her back and tell her ONCE again that I was in the hospital and that I would call her as soon as I was out to return to work. Then I was put on what is called a PICC line where they take a small tube and insert it into my vein on my arm and leave a Cathater hanging out so I could hook up IV bags at home. and with the PICC line I wasn't allowed to do heavy lifting and with my job I lift heavy things all the time. So I had to be out of work until they removed the PICC line, and the intertion site was healed. All that was done last week and here I am FINALLY!!!!

Anyway I just wanted to let everyone know what was going on and to say Thank you to all of you who sent your hugs and thoughts my way!

Talk to all of you soon!!!

Welcome back! Glad you're better, and sorry you had to go through all that.

If you can, you might want to try massaging your jaw & stretching it very gently until you see the dr again - hopefully you can get it open & not have to go through anything else.

I'm sorry you have had to go through all of this, but glad it sounds like you are feeling much better. Re the jaw...since I don't know why, my experience may not relate at all, but I have TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint Syndrome), and when having an episode, my bite changes - lower jaw shifts forward and to the right, so that I can no longer open and close my mouth properly (front teeth end up touching, back teeth can not..really a weird feeling!). This comes with a good amount of soreness in the jaw (where the jaw has shifted so it's not seated properly on the skull)and I'm unable to eat more than very soft foods as I can't chew.

I've had good success in treating this with warm moist compresses to the area that is sore (thank goodness I only "unhinge" on one side) and take tylenol and it resolves within a couple of days.

Worth a try for you perhaps?

ps as funky as the above sounds, you can't tell from looking at me, that the jaw has shifted etc. Thank heavens!

hth, and I hope you will not need surgery,

I don't want the surgery but considering the fact that it's been over a month since my jaw has been able to open fully and that I have been doing hot moist packs on it 3 times a day for 30 mins intervils and still haven't gotten much leway in opening I think it's going to have to be done
I also have to stack tounge depressers up in my mouth and I can only get 13 in before my jaw pretty much locks up. My Dentists wants me to be able to get atleast 20 in there. So for the next month I am sticking to my watching T.V with sticks hanging out my mouth and Hot packs on my face for 30 mins LOL
But keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have to go under. Anyway!!!!!! glad to finally be back and I wish everyone a

WONDERFUL NEW YEAR!!!!
