HOw can some bosses be so heartr less?

Since Thursday of last week I have had a terriable tooth ache. I woke up Friday afternoon(since I work nites) to prepare myself for work. and come to find out that I was running a fever of 101.0 and my whole left side of my jaw was swollen! so I called into work with the intention of going to the Dentist to get meds and what ever else was needed. after 4 hours of runing around cause my Dentist refused to see me. I said screw it and called work and told them that I wasn't going to be in at all. So I go home pop a handful of advil and climb into bed and cry until I go to sleep. I wake up the next day same thing swollen left jaw and this time a fever of 102.0f by this time I have gotten ahold of my brother who has a few pain relivers. so he brings me some of those. I then pop one of them and call my boss on her cell phone to tell her that I again am not going to make it into work, I then get her voice mail so I leave the message there. then I call my work and tell the girl working there that I won't be in and I don't know who will be. and that if they don't hear anything from my boss to call me and I will see what i can do. Well my co workers call me at like 5:30pm to tell me that they still haven't heard from my boss so I once again call her cell phone still no answer. so I call her home phone....no answer. so I then call my asst manager....No answer. So I call my co worker back and tell her that I haven't gotten ahold of anyone but that I will keep trying. well come 9:30 pm an hour before my shift is supose to start. I try yet again to get ahold of someone! No luck. then my boss calls me back. Tells me that she has no clue who I am and that I need to stop calling her.(she was drunk) so I then tell her who I am and where I am from and why I am calling. she then yells at me for calling her so late and that I should have called her sooner then I did. and blah blah blah then hangs up on me. Since I was sick on friday and covered my own shift by telling another co worker that I would work sunday for her if she work Friday for me. I tried to do this for sat shift also but she couldn't do it. well anyway!!! I wake up Sun am with my whole face swollen and a rash on my neck and cheaks. I am dying here!!!!!! I called my co worker at home to see if she would be willing to cover her normal shift and that I would make it up to her someother time. But she doesn't answer my calls all day long not even return my messages. I am so peeved right now!! I am in horriable pain to the point where all I can do is sit with my head not moving and not even drink or eat which I haven't done in 2 days!!!!! but yet I am here at work because co-workers and boss's won't answer their dang phones. How nice is that??? heck even one of the nurses I talk to at the hospital that I pull files for told me to just leave that she would vouge for how much pain i was in LOL anyway!!! I just had to vent on how imature and unboss like my boss is. Hope all of you have a better time then me!!!

oh boy.. I sure do hope that you are feeling better now.. never mind the bosses and colleagues.. recover first...

It sounds like your boss is very irresponsible. I am sorry you have to deal with that! On another note, I hope you feel better after a trip to the dentist. I have been avoiding that one myself but after hearing your pain I better get my butt in there so I am not out of commission. Feel better soon,

If only my bosses will let me!! I am stuck at work tonight with a fever and a swollen jaw and nothing I can take to get rid of the pain I hopfully can get into to the dentist tomorrow but not sure about that. in the mean time I have make my swelling worse by walking all over a wearhouse tonight and lifing people's medical files and radiology jackets that sometimes weight more then 15 pounds. plus to top off the fact that my co worker was out sick all last week. but not because she was sick but because she had 2 tests to do at school. but I am the only one who knows that. Then acts as if I am asking alot from her to help me out. after I went all week doing the work of 2 people. Man I hate it when I get upset when i am not feeling good. it sends me into a hugh depression.

Yup corrina I think a trip to the Dentist is well advised!!! LOL I wouldn't be where I am now if I would have Insurance 6 months ago when my tooth started falling apart and hurting! but I have been puting up with the pain by overdosing on advil at least once a month. but it's now reach the point where advil no matter how much I take doesn't even touch the pain. so yeah Dentist is a good Idea! I just hope you don't run into all the trouble I have since Friday!

I can't understand this. You are clearly in pain and need to go home! I don't know what your job is but isn't there somewhere in your contract that excuses you from work in situations like this?

Yup I agree with Yayi, Your boss is an idi*t!! I so feel for you right now. How is you temp right now? You shouldn't be there at all but if you are burnin up you need to do something about it. Sending lot's of cyber ice water and a few percocets to boot.

No contract here. Just plain ol work and get paid. only thing I can do is call to see if my boss will come in and work the rest of my shift but since my b/f and I share a vehicle I wouldn't be able to go home until after 6:30 in the AM when his paper delivery is done. Yup she ain't the sharpest pencil in the box but I never thought she was that dull!!!!


As for my temp right now it's 101.3(i brought my thermometer with me. LOL) mmmmm Ice water and percocet!!!!! what I wouldn't give to beable to drink the ice water

You should have probably gone to the dentist, but your boss sounds like a real winner. She gets so drunk she doesn't know the people who work for her? The CEO of my company is one of those uppity people but he knows who I am at least. Geez! Does she have a supervisor you can report her to?

From what I have read here, it sounds like you have abcessed(sp?) teeth. I am speaking from personal experience...your dentist might not be able to do any work on your teeth until the infection is cleared up. Make an appointment with your doctor or go to the ER after work, and get some antibiotics, and once the infection starts clearing up the pain will lessen a lot.

Just to let you know, not all bosses are jerks, I am an asst mgr and will bend over backwards for my employees, My reginal mgr now she is a real witch. I stayed over 30 min yesterday to help them out and when I left she showed up and did an inspection. Long story short my mgr is upset( bad score) and wants to give everyone on the inspection a verbal write up, well my reginal mgr told her that I should get one also, not sure why, something about me leaving while they were one person short( one on break) I didn't get the whole story as of yet, but I am so angry I could spit. I think she is a witch with a b anyway and that's no news to anyone who works there, but if she tries to write me up for going home 30 minutes after my shift was over, I'll tell her off.

well to give everyone a brief update. I went to the Dentist. I was put on antibotics and was given vicadin, Here is it now 3 days later the swelling is much worse and the pain can't even be taken away by the vicadin. and Here I am as work AGAIN! I was told by my boss that if I missed any more days that she would have to wrtie me up because of it. I am in such horriable pain right now! I haven't eaten in 6 dyas and can barly get sips of water down. I am calling my dentist tomorrow the second they open up and I am demanding that they either give me new meds or DO SOMETHING TO KEEP ME OUT OF PAIN AND SWELLING!! I can't handle it anymore the swelling had gone from being in just my jaw to my throat and just below my Eye. I can't opeb my mouth enough to fit a little Advil pill in it unless I litteratlly pull it apart! And with all of this going on my Truck breaks down and is now sitting at the Mechanic's in hopes of getting fixed. but in order for it to get fixed I have to have money and that I don't have

You need a second opinion, and fast. Didn't you say you have a crumbled tooth? For heavens sakes, I feel so bad for you, this sounds very serious, and it needs immediate and thorough attention, I'm concerned you have an abcess or worse, based on the extended swelling you are talking about and the level of pain. You don't need stronger pain killers, you need an accurate diagnosis of what is causing the infection and pain and appropriate treatment. Please..if this is your regular dentist impress upon them that current tx is not working and that you need to be seen on an emergency basis. Frankly, if you have insurance that will cover it, I'd head to an er as soon as your current shift is over.

well after I well illegal Nap on the clock. I am back again. My plans are to call the Dentist with they open and inform them that the swelling has still not subsided and DEMAND they figure something out. as for the ER I would be more then willing to go if my CO pay on my insurance wasn't 100 bucks. I need that 100 bucks to help put towards my Truck at the mechanic my parents are going to put forth what ever else they can. Soooo I am pretty much screwed until I get paid next or when B/f Gets paid next which for him is sooner then myself. I think that sincemy Dr's have told me that the swelling would go down after starting the Anitbiotics and with it being 3 days since they will now see that something more needs to be done. I HOPE! if not I don't know what I will do Oh well. Time for me to do a little work so I can then go sleep alittle while longer. and then be ready to leave here at 7:00am.

Sounds like you needed to get yourself to any doctor or the ER. Self medicating is very dangerous. You're giving yourself medication that isn't prescribed to you and could be dangerous for you. You need to get to a regular doctor and get the correct treatment. Then when things are cleared up you can go to the dentist.

They need to give you different anti-biotics. It's difficult to clear up infections in the mouth.

OMG! I really feel for you, and six days is way too long to go without eating anything! Maybe you could try taking some sips of an instant breakfast type of drink, at least it has SOME nourishment which is better than none at all. Or, even better, call your MD and explain your situation and how you can't eat. He/she should be able to advise you on what you can do to get nourishment.

This is a very dangerous and critical situation. You need to see a doctor more then you need something for your truck. Believe me... your truck will be no good to you if you're laying flat in a hospital bed, or worse.
