Wow, I really feel for you.  Your guys are certainly giving you the run around since you left them and went on holidays.  I live with a kibble addict that won't touch more than an occasional lick of tasty gravy so I know how infuriating and expensive it can be trying to get them to eat better stuff (I admit my boy's main diet is prescription dry though and wet is likely to remain a top up food).

I am assuming your cats are strictly in door only and don't have access to food from any other source?  It just seems strange that they are otherwise in good shape and even have more energy than usual.

A lot of members here have success in encouraging their cats to eat wet food by sprinkling Fortiflora over the food - which I think gives it more of a smell like the kibble has.  it's pretty easy to get and not expensive so might be worth a try.

In the interests of reducing wastage you could try freezing food after putting down the first serving so you can rotate more.  Defrost to room temperature before re-serving.  You can freeze in what ever portion sizes you prefer, or use ice cube trays so you take out the quantity you want each time.

Try to keep a close check on their weight.  Best of luck with getting them back in to healthy eating, it is so worrying when they turn their noses up and hard not to give in and feed them what ever they want.

Lovely photos BTW, very sweet together.

You will have to start from scratch. Start with tiny bit of wet and each day slowly reduce kibble and increase wet. Like kids they were eating chips and not dinner while mom and dad were away. It's natural for them to now want chips. Slowly wean them back and next vacation feed no dry.

Yes they are strictly indoor, cannot get to other sources of food and yes, they are driving me crazy!

I found Fortiflora online and it seems only marketed for dogs here in Italy, I'm not sure if it's the same thing or not... But thanks for your advice! And yes, we are monitoring their weight closely.

The frozen food it's a little hard to do since we don't have a microwave to defrost it quickly, and it would require the kind of planning that is not so easy with a full time job...

Its so frustrating, I just wish they could talk and tell me what they want to eat! :D

You are right, but we only fed them half dry because it was the only option at the time. Also, I should point out that it was premium quality grain free food, not some cheap brand. We didn't like it, but we did what we had to do to ensure that they were well fed while we were away! (by the way: yes, now they eat kibble more than canned, but they don't go crazy over it. Whatever food I serve they leave at least half of it in their bowls!)

@chiarabab   , I feel your pain .  My 2 cats are super super picky .  I have tried at least 20 different brands of wet food & wasted tons of money because my cats would not eat any of it . They do like Fancy Feast but even with that they will get bored and stop eating . So we have to go back to kibble . I would love for them to eat a 100 % wet diet but I cannot force them to eat it .
