Hi guys, I'm hoping someone on this site can help me. My oldest of four cats is a polydactyl named sushi. Usually she is queen of everything, including our other kitties. She's a lap cat and sleeps in bed with my husband and I every night and is the first one to SCREAM (very vocal) a you when you get home. I've been treating for ring worm now with all four cats for some time. (Took in a 3 month old calico that was abandoned and by the time she had it, they all did) Yes they get the sulfur baths and the oral treatments. We are on week 2 of sulfur and meds. My concern is one night before bed I was calling all cats for treats and sushi didn't come. We looked all over for her and finally found her under my bed. I called her again and went to touch her and she swatted at me and hissed. She then ran further under my bed and when I felt where she was , it was wet with urine from me reaching. I decided something spooked her an I would leave her alone to come out. Well she still hang then next day . My husband and I come home for lunch and when we did we knew she hand been out of the room. We brought her food and water but she didn't touch it. Finally this morning she came out from under the bed to where we could see her and she let me pet her tail and then tensed up. My husband called her and she walked to him but he could barely touch her. She doesn't want to leave this room and want NOTHING to do with the other cats. But what's bizarre is she is completely wide eyed and starring in my hallway like there is something there to get her. We close the door to help her calm but then she directed focus on my bathroom and closet doorways . Even when she's cleaning herself she stops abruptly to quickly make sure there's nothing Near her. She is spazzing out, this Is not my girl. She has now gone back under the Bed to sleep. Whew... That was a lot sorry.... Just need answers for my girl! She worries my kids and us. The other fur babies aren't the same without her spunk.. Thank you in advance

That much of a sudden behavioral change might mean a health problem. Could she be having a bad reaction to the treatments? I'd get her checked by your vet ASAP. :vibes:

Poor Sushi :(

I'm battling ringworm at my place too. its so ANNOYING.

I'm treating with this shampoo, and administering yeast infection medication on any open sores (on me and the cats) and its crazy but its been working WAYY better than the oral medication that the vet prescribed. My cat Gunther would throw up every time i gave it to him..so after the bottle ran out I didn't even get a refill. Topical meds and the baths are working great for me. Not so much for the cats as they hate baths.

I would DEFINITELY take Sushi to the vet. The meds could be reacting badly within her...she might also be stressed out form the bath..I hope she feels herself soon.

My girl Jet hides when she knows its time for her bath. She just always knows, and even afterward she's a bit more skittish than usual, and I have had instances where she peed on me from fear/fright.

Please get Sushi to the vet..and maybe invest in some calming collars. I got a 3pack just for Jet and it works wonders for her...might help Sushi too..good luck with the pesky ring worm, and with Sushi.

Thanks you two! Sushi is almost back to totally back to normal (whatever that means or the goofy girl), haha. She is still alittle skittish at times and act a little odd but all in all she is back to being out, loving her humans and taking care of her 3 adopted fur babies . ( we call her momma sue for that reason :)) although, something is bothering me, her vet still wants her to take the meds. I however am SO not comfortable having her take them. I called a few other vets offices who said to come in . We did and the wanted her to take them also. " Sushi", "miso", "wasabi ", and the kitten "Nori" are all reacting differento the meds. Sushi is allergic (pretty sure) to the oral med. miso is really not effected by them but he has only had the fungus on the tips of his ears still. Wasabi, our youngest daughters kitty, has an awe full skin reaction to it ALL . He's sensitive and Nori is so scared of the water that she hyperventilats. Is there anything i can do at home for this so we're not spending about 3 hours a day treating the untreated and pumping them full of stuff that hurts/ stresses them out more? There has to be something ! I so badly want my house to be free of this without spending another $400. TYIA

It's great to hear Sushi is doing better! Fortunately I haven't had any experience with ringworm, though I've heard how difficult it can be to deal with. Have you seen TCS's new article about it? It has some tips: Ringworm in Cats

So glad to hear that she's doing better! I think perhaps a second opinion from another vet would be in order? This doesn't sound like a good situation at all.
