I recently found a young (about 4-week old) ginger tom kitten in the wall of the neighbor's barn. He very quickly grew tame and is now a very sweet kitten. he is now about 7 weeks old and definitely has ringworm. (i have it now, too. ugh) What should i do?

Hello and welcome to TCS!

You're in luck!
We just published our ultimate guide to ringworm in cats -

http://www.thecatsite.com/a/ringworm-in-cats

If it's just a local patch on one cat, it really isn't that bad. You should both get treated though, the sooner the better, as you're both shedding spores while the infection is active. I am not an expert on human medicine (or veterinary medicine for that matter), but I believe any anti-fungal cream is good for ringworm in humans. In cats it's a little bit different because they lick their coat, so topical treatments are a problem (they're too toxic to be ingested). So, make sure you don't apply the same ointment on your kitten.

A localized small patch of ringworm is likely to clear up on its own but it could take a while and it's not good to have around your home. I'm afraid there's no way around consulting a vet about treating your kitten. Only a vet can decide on which oral medication, if any, is suitable for your cat. And don't forget to read the new guide!
