I picked up a pregnant kitty to foster 6 days ago. The vet said she was 7-10 days out but could be sooner. The past few days(today not included) I could see the babies moving a ton. I also noticed a strange noise coming from her tummy. It sounded like water dripping from a faucet. They were so loud at one point that my phone picked up the sounds when I put it next to her. I tried doing a search but didn't come up with anything solid and thought maybe someone on here might be able to tell me. She hasn't done anything to cause any concern. She doesn't seem uncomfortable. She's very affectionate and is eating, drinking, and using the litter box.

Also, I know it is impossible to tell without her seeing a vet, but I was wondering if any of you who have seen many a pregnant cat would like to venture a guess at how many:)? Just for kicks

It's so wonderful that you foster! Can you call the vet again and ask about the dripping noise? I have never heard of this one before. I know that her water breaking could be in a drip, but then you should be seeing the fluid coming out. It should be happening in the hours before the birth, maybe a day, but not much longer. It's why I think you should talk to the vet.

I just thought I'd let you know what the answer was! Apparently it is totally normal for their stomachs to make this sort of noise and it's either gas or the babies moving around. Her guess is that she's carrying quite a few and that might be why it is so loud. Poor girl looks like she is about to burst.

I have a question for those of you who have experience with pregnant cats. I know that movement is not always seen but I was wondering the soonest you've been able to see movement? Many sites say up to two weeks before birth but one person said four or five for her. I'm just curious about what others have experienced. I've been able to see quite a bit of movement in my pregnant cat for about 8 days now.

For me it was about 2 to 2 1/2 week's before the birth but no sooner. It's so nice that you are fostering this pregnant kitty! I guess 5 Kittens :)

For the past 2 or 3 days her tummy has appeared to look smaller? Or more saggy. It's not quite as puffed up as in the picture above. She hasn't had the kittens yet. She isn't acting distressed or anything. I've read that this can happen before the kittens are born because they are moving into the birthing position but I thought this happened shortly before they were born?

She had her babies:) she had 4 in the morning. And another 12 hours later. I named her Autumn. She was humanely euthanized.
The other four are doing very well and gaining mass amounts of weight. The runt is no longer he runt and weight just as much as one of the others. Three of them are all white. One has a big black blotch on his head. Autumn had two little blotches that reminded me of coffee beans.

It could have been a number of things apparently. The vet said she had a slight cleft palate. She was less than 36 hours old and going downhill fast. There was a clicking noise sometimes when she breathed although the vet said her lungs sounded good. She also started making a wimpering noise when she breathed. I tried karo syrup and syringe feeding. She wouldn't latch on to mom. We tried tube feeding but it didn't seem to help.
