This just started recently...my youngest kitty, Sparkle, discovered my glass of ice & water that I always keep beside me when on the computer. Now, several times a day she will come up to it, "paw" at the table around it for a few seconds, then lowers her head almost but not quite touching the surface of the ice & water and closes her eyes and just sits like that for at least 2-3 minutes, a long time she will move her head back and over it slowly while doing this...with both paws together in front of the cup...almost as if she's praying over it. After this ritual is done, she will then begin to lick around the sides of the glass, finally taking a few laps of the water and jump down until next time but it's always the same ritual. I have never seen a cat do this..She no longer drinks from their dish, and I've put ice cubes in there as well lately to see if she'd  drink out of the dish like she used to but she does not. I always put a glass of ice & water on my night stand by my bed at night which is were she first discovered it and began drinking out of it once in a while  but now when she hears me getting into bed at night she comes running in and jumps right on the nightstand for the water. goes thru the same ritual, the settles in beside me on the bed. While I am enjoying this new behavior very much, I am curious as to what's behind it. Any ideas ?

What a cute and strange behavior!
Is Sparkle a very playful cat? During warm weather I put ice cubes in my cats'  water bowls and the most playful ones will come up, stare at the ice, sometimes paw at them, scratch the floor around the bowl, drink and then dash off to do other cat stuff. The remaining lay back kitties ignore the ice.

It is possible that Sparkle is intrigued by the way light reflects on your glass and the cubes. It could be a phase and she'll get tired of it. Or not.
But I would also make sure that she is drinking enough water especially if she is on a kibble diet.
