How do I help this baby? It is about 4 hours old. Taking big deep raspy breaths. Almost gasping. There is a little clicking sound when he breathes in. Energy level is good he's moving about but he hasn't suckled yet. What do I do?

Yes, this baby needs to go to the vet now! They can put the baby under oxygen to help. An emergency clinic might have better capabilities of helping.

Yes. I took the little one in, but there was nothing they could do for it. The vet said there was something wrong with its lungs since it was having to mouth breathe so hard and it was best to let it go. On the bright side, the other 3 are doing great. All are nursing and snuggling with mom. She's so proud of tj and doesn't notice the one is missing.

You had done what you could and should be done.   The little one´s immortal soul can now, tx to you, rest in peace.

I will now ask a mod to close this thread, as is the custom here when the kitten has passed.

Please MomSnickers to start new treads for any other question or report you do wish to make.

RIP  little one!

Good luck to you all others:  the 3 healthy kittens, their biological mom, and their human Ma!

I am so sorry you have lost the little one.  Getting the kitten to the vet was the best thing you could do, and you know every chance was looked at.  It is good that the mother is not looking for her kitten, and perhaps she knew more than you what was happening so understands in her own way.

May all 3 kittens now do well and your mother cat cope will with caring for them over the coming weeks.  Lovely to watch them snuggling in together.

Added following @StefanZ's post -

As StefanZ has said above, we normally close threads in these situations. You are most welcome to start a new thread for any other questions or issues you would like to talk about.

Please consider starting a thread for you and your little kitten in the Crossing the Bridge if you feel it would help.
