Hello everyone!

My kitten 3 month old got a leg injury like 3 weeks ago, we took him to the Vet, he didn't have a fracture bones so the Vet suggested rest and some medicine.

So the kitten recovers but I notice something odd.

When he walks slowly he is always limping like if his leg hurts BUT when he runs and plays with his brother he doesn't limps at all, just run and play around normally.

I touched his paw and leg and he doesn't complain, it seems totally heal but he is still limping when he walks.

I wonder if he may 'think' his leg hurts because he remember it from before and keep limping even thought his leg is not longer injured. Can it be a psychological reaction to the memory of the pain he had 2 weeks ago?

Hmmm...that's a strange one.  I wouldn't think that would be the case.  I would think it actually bothers him when he walks.

Is he running on 3 legs?  When my kitty had a sore leg he would run on 3 legs then limp on the sore one when he was walking.  It took quite awhile for it to completely heal up.

If he is only limping while walking, it is likely that it bothers him a little bit. I would give it a few more weeks and see if he improves.

Thank you so much for your answers! I really don't know how long it takes for a kitten to recover for a leg injury. I guess the only I can do is to wait...

I'm sure that depends on the kitten and especially on the injury. Saia took about two months to stop limping. I hope he feels better soon!

i got a jones fracture a year ago and can still feel hints of the original injury, my last surgery was in april  for the other damage.  probably possible like people that they get injuries to where they will never be the same?

i wonder do cats in general heal quicker than people?  a few years ago i had to take my cat to the vet after he was bitten by a stray and got infected.  they had cut and clean the area and put a drain in it.  that punk, which is his name, yanked the collar off one night and ripped his own stitches out before the appt. the next week to get them taken out by the vet!  he didn't seem bothered by it after a couple days, there was no pain meds, and it wasn't even draining when they yanked the drain the next week.

Saia "pinched" his leg, one of the growth plates. They told us it would take about 3 months to fully heal. My sister fractured her wrist, also a growth plate (Doc told us if she were older it wouldn't have been possible, she would have been more seriously injured) and it also took about 3 months. Sooo, based on that *very* limited experience, I am thinking not that much quicker than us! There are hopefully more informed opinions though! :p
