I haven't been on here much lately, too much going on, and I doubt anyone remembers Cindy's story. It was at least a month before her cancer was finally diagnosed through surgery as being mast cell.  She had chemo and was doing well, but in January started losing weight and having other problems.  We put her on a feeding tube because she wasn't eating much, and we got her weight stabilized, but not much over 5 pounds, but she was doing well.  A couple weeks ago she started losing again. Throwing up a lot. We've tried different foods and are now back to Recovery, giving her a little bit about every 3 hours or so during the day.  She still spends time in the window, sits on/with DH, interacts with Swanie (our other cat), but not as much.  Sleeps a lot more.  She doesn't seem to be in a lot of pain yet, and vet has told us there is pain medicine we can get for her when it does get bad.  We are just devastated. We love her so much, and she's the sweetest little girl you could imagine.  I hope we can get her through this without her having to be in too much pain and with us staying strong (I haven't been very strong so far, just crying all the time).  But she did beat the odds. When we had the surgery and chemo, they warned us it would probably only buy her 3 to 6 months, and we've had with us for nearly 2 years.  It's time to feed her now, and I'm about to start crying again.  Please say a little prayer that she doesn't have to suffer too much with this.

I'm so sorry to hear this.  Two extra years, that's something to be thankful for.  But it doesn't help soften the blow now, I know.  You're all in my thoughts.

Its wonderful that you have had additional time with her, it requires a lot of time, strength and love to nurse them through that. Even though you know that her time is getting short, she will let you know....that said, my last three kitties passed peacefully at home. It depends on if they are in distress or pain..

My thoughts are with you..

I just said a little prayer for your kitty and you, I know how hard it's to have a cat with cancer, I lost my boy 3 months ago because of that damn disease. I lost it when he passed but I now feel a bit better, I do have my ups and down.

Anyway I will keep saying players for you guys.

Thank you all for your good wishes.  She seems a little bit perkier this morning and her weight was "up" to 4 lbs. 9.4 (yesterday it was 4 lbs 9.0) - we are happy with every little thing like that.  We will enjoy her for as long as we can and we will try to make her happy and comfortable for however long we have her.

I want to again thank everyone who offered me advice, help, reassurance, vibes, prayers, for my little Cindy Lou over the course of her illness.  She is on pain medicine now and currently stretched out on her favorite blanket.  She's so weak she can barely stand, and I'm sure she's lost even more weight.  I refuse to weigh her anymore. She never liked getting on that scale, and there is no longer a point to it.  She pretty much tanked on Wednesday evening.  She had a good day, but by evening she couldn't even keep her head up. I took the day off work and I"ve been sitting in here with her most of the day, telling her how much I love her.  DH is here too, he is devastated by this, she was closest to him.

I guess I'm at peace with it, I know there is no hope of somehow pulling off a miracle and saving her.  She's had her share of miracles, and of wonderful people helping her along the way, so I can't be greedy.  There has never been a sweeter, more loving cat in the universe, and she is going to be missed by all of us.

We are off now to see one of her vets for additional guidance on how to make her last days as comfortable as possible.

Oh my god that is so sad I'm deeply sorry for your loss. Your cat looks like my boy in some ways who passed on the 9th of July. The cute little button nose with a white patch of fur above it even the pattern then ingrained and surrounded by orange parts. Even the paws and look in the eyes. Oh my so sorry for you misty. Many of us here go through this and meet in this unfortunate manner.

God bless you's both misty.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your boy in July.  It hurts.  Not everyone can understand the grief you can feel for a pet you loved so dearly, which is why this site is so great.

I am really sorry for your loss. Cindy is very beautiful. I am so sad for you and for your other kitty, Swanie. It must be hard for her to understand as well..

You did everything you could and you have gotten more time with her than you initially thought. That counts for something. It doesn't make the pain less or this situation any easier, but you'll have many more beautiful memories which eventually you will be able to smile about.

My thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry about your Minnie.  People don't realize how hard it is to lose someone you love so much, just because it's an animal, the grief is just as real.  I'll probably stop crying one of these days, but it's been rough so far, and so many memories around the house.

I'll say... out of the blue it will hit you...smilng one minute...tears the next...but all a process... if it didn't hurt so much...it would mean we didn't love them so. :)
