I've been watching this in the background.  What a wonderful heartwarming story.

We'll need more pictures soon.

He couldn't have been out there long, his coat still looks very lush. I'd say @Norachan is right, he either escaped from someone's car, or was given a time outside his crate and got spooked.

The most wonderful cat I ever owned was found in a similar situation. She was at a gas station in terrible shape, but very friendly. She came right up to me and started purring, she'd been attacked by something and was covered in scabs. My mother told me to leave her alone as she looked horrible, but I wouldn't hear it. I had to guilt trip my mom into bringing her home.

Chancy ended up being like my sister and lived to be 17. Greatest cat who ever lived imo. RIP

I hope this fella becomes a permanent member or your clan.

Yes, we all know here how important that is!

You lucked out with this kitty, he's absolutely gorgeous and it sounds like he has a loving temperament.

He's a stunning cat. Those eyes...

I didn't realize you lived in Japan. Expat or were you born there?
Expat.

I'm from the south west of England originally. I came here after university, thinking I'd just stay for a year then go home and get a "proper" job.

That was 14 years ago.........

Are the cats adjusting to the new space??

Did your one lost girl come back??

I just read through this entire thread. What a handsome boy! Surely someone wouldn't have "dumped' such a beautiful creature, but I know it happens.
Bless you for picking him up.
I'm so glad that he's getting his appetite back.

Hi @smokem

He's doing great, thanks. No one has replied to any of the Found Cat posters I put up, but Forest has made great progress. He now weighs 3.6 kilos and has started going out into the enclosure with the other cats. We did some careful introductions. He's a bit shy but the other cats are used to me having foster kittens every spring, so they're good with strangers.

Here are a few photo's.

We had a lot of heavy rain, but it wasn't too bad. I think the mountains protect us from the worst of the wind, it's never as bad here as it is on the Southern islands. Okinawa and Kyushu always get hit pretty hard.

Yes, I recently moved house with my colony of 20. They now have a big outdoor enclosure and are welcome to come into the house whenever they like. They're all getting used to home comforts.

Three of them disappeared when I first moved. Two of them came back but Spike, one of the wilder girls, has been gone for 2 and 1/2 months now. The reason we have cat carriers in the car and were able to bring Forest home so easily is because I'm always on the look out for Spike. I hope she's going to come back again when it gets colder. She was here for about a month before she got out and she hasn't showed up at our old place yet. I think she's out in those woods somewhere.
